Amethyst is a type of mineral players can obtain in Minecraft. Unlike other minerals, they have rather niche uses and not many players go out of their way to obtain them. However, Mojang has been adding more and more interactions for this minerals with updates.
In this article, Gurugamer.com is going to showcase the top 5 best uses for Amethyst in Minecraft 1.19.
1. Duplicating Allays
Allay is the new mob in Minecraft 1.19. Amethyst shard is the main way that players can breed and create more Allay.
If an amethyst shard is given to an allay that is currently dancing to an active jukebox, the allay emits heart particles, consumes the amethyst shard and duplicates into another allay. After this, there is a 2.5 minute cool down until both allays can be duplicated like this again.
While this might sound simple, acquiring music discs to trigger a jukebox can be problematic.
2. Create Tinted Glass
Tinted glass is a block that blocks light while being visually transparent. It is the perfect block to add to a mob farm - it allows players to observe the inside of the farm while letting the mobs spawn normally.
Players can create this block by combining 4 amethyst shards with one glass block. Unlike other glass blocks, Tinted Glass cannot be turned into glass panes.
3. Spyglass
A spyglass is an item that can be used for zooming in on specific locations. Players can create a spyglass by fusing one amethyst shard with 2 copper ingots.
To use a spyglass, the player selects it from the hotbar and clicks use while looking in the desired direction. Due to technical issues, the spyglass only shows a magnified view of what the player already sees. Mobs too distant to render also do not render in the spyglass. Hazy distant objects remain hazy when viewed in the spyglass.
4. Decoration
Amethyst is a very good-looking mineral, with shiny purple color and a number of forms. Therefore, players can use amethyst blocks alongside amethyst clusters to decorate their base.
- A block of amethyst is a decorative block crafted from four amethyst shards.
- Amethyst clusters are the fourth and final growth stage of amethyst buds, which drop amethyst shards when mined. They can be obtained by mining with Silk Touch.
To find an Amethyst Geode in Minecraft, it’s best to just go underground and start mining. You don’t necessarily have to go deep though: Amethyst geodes can spawn between Y-level -64 and Y-level 30. Geodes are not that hard to spot either as they're very big and often cracked, which means that you might see the faint glowing light from a distance.
5. Amethyst blocks create chime sounds
Each block in Minecraft has a unique sound when players walk on them. Amethyst is not an exception - it releases an extremely soothing and magical chime-like sound. Therefore, players can use the block as the floor parts in their builds.
