The Allay is a new mob in Minecraft that can collect duplicate items for players, which can be very useful in builds. Players can find them imprisoned in Woodland mansions and Pillager cages. This is not an efficient way to acquire more allays, as locating, clearing out the location and rounding the allays up can take a lot of time. Players should use a duplication method to get more allays instead.
In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase a complete guide on how to breed or duplicate an Allay in Minecraft 1.19.
1. Items for breeding / duplicating an Allay
An allay
Players need to get at least one Allay in order to duplicate them. As mentioned above, they can be found in Woodland mansions and Pillager cages. Just use a lead to pull them around and bring them back to your base.
Amethyst Shard
Amethyst is a rather new resource added to the game as part of the 1.17 update. To get the Amethyst shard, players need to either loot chests in Ancient cities or mine an Amethyst geode. It is a shell-like terrain feature of the overworld that generates underground between world heights of Y=30 & Y=-64.
A Jukebox
To craft a Jukebox, players only need to combine 8 wooden planks and a diamond with a crafting table. Just place the diamond in the middle and surround it with planks. Players can get diamonds from chests or from mining at levels -59 and -58.
A Music Disc
There are 15 music discs in Minecraft, and players can find them in the following locations, as part of chest loots:
- Dungeons
- Ancient City
- Bastion Remnant
- Buried Treasure
- Woodland Mansion
- Stronghold
When killed by any skeleton or stray, a creeper drops a random music disc in addition to its normal drops. This is a pretty unreliable method, however.
2. How to Duplicate Allay in Minecraft
There are two steps for breeding Allays in Minecraft: dancing and duplication.
How to make Allay dance?
It is not really a secret that the Allays love music, due to their connection to note blocks. To begin the duplication process, just bring an Allay close to a jukebox and play a music disc. It would start dancing around the jukebox until the music stops. This mechanic only happens within a 10-block radius of the jukebox.
Duplicate the Allay with amethyst shards
Once the Allay starts dancing, players can give it an amethyst shard. Instead of holding the item, the Allay will duplicate itself, consuming the shard in the process. You don't need 2 allays to breed more of them.
This only works if the Allay is dancing. If you give the amethyst shard to a non-dancing Allay, it just holds the item and tries to look for its copies.
