This week is undoubtedly going to be a gory one for PC and consoles with the release of Mortal Kombat 11 and the PS4 exclusive Days Gone. Nintendo Switch, on the other hand, balances it out with some cheerier exclusives of its own including SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech and BoxBoy + Box Girl. Also, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is also coming to the platform.
Mortal Kombat 11: April 23
Available on: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch
There’s probably no introduction needed for Mortal Kombat at this point, but the newest addition to the franchise does bring a few new things: Fatal Blows that are basically X-ray attacks that you can perform once per match, Krushing Blows – cooler versions of special moves, and Flawless Blocks that leave the opponent vulnerable to counterattack if you can pull it off by timing your defenses at the exact moment. Taking a page out of Injustice 2’s book, Mortal Kombat 11 also allows you to customize your characters.
Days Gone: April 26
Available on: PS4
The long-awaited PS4 exclusive is finally coming in just a few days. Main character Deacon St. John traverses a post-apocalyptic open world on his motorcycle, combating zombies (or Freakers as they are called here). To deal with the army of the undead, you can either choose a stealthy approach with traps and ambushes, or go full Rambo. Just remember, don't let yourself get caught around the enemies when night falls.
SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech: April 25
Available on: Switch
The SteamWorld series always tries to bring something different with every new game, and Hand of Gilgamech is heading towards card-based RPGs. There are more than a hundred cards for players to collect build their own deck, which opens up a lot of room for strategizing. The game also has many quests to play through as well.
BoxBoy + BoxGirl: April 26
Available on: Switch
As the title suggests, BoxBoy + BoxGirl is a cooperative take on the BoxBoy franchise, featuring both Qbby and Qucy as the main characters. Thus, you can now embark on an adventure alongside a friend or just switch between the characters to play by yourself. Moreover, you can also try out the dedicated single-player mode, which focuses on Qbby only.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen: April 23
Available on: Switch
Dark Arisen is the full release of the action-RPG Dragon's Dogma, and now it is making its way to Nintendo Switch. The game features many quests to complete quests and monsters to slay, and as you progress you can recruit Pawns, or followers, who can assist you in battle.
