Microsoft began rolling out the August 2026 system update for Xbox consoles on August 12, 2026. The update brings OS version 10.0.26100.9426 and focuses on quality-of-life improvements rather than major overhauls. It enhances support for Xbox 360 titles, improves cloud features for Game Pass subscribers, expands wishlist options, and adds clearer management tools for your library.
1. Game hubs for Xbox 360 titles
Xbox 360 games now include full game hubs on their game cards. Open the card for any installed Xbox 360 title and you can quickly check achievement progress, captures, and other details. Symbols that show cloud save sync status have also been improved for clearer visibility.
2. Better achievement details and Windows Phone history
Detailed achievement popups now appear for Xbox 360 games when you view the list in your profile. In addition, achievements from older Windows Phone games now show up in your full achievement history, matching the experience already available on original Xbox 360 consoles.
3. Play via cloud while updates download
If a game needs an update and is available through Game Pass cloud streaming, you no longer have to wait. You can launch the title via cloud gaming right away and queue the local update to run after you finish playing. The option also appears directly on the game card while a title is installing or updating.
4. Restore previous cloud saves
You can now restore earlier versions of cloud saves directly on the console for supported games. Browse available save versions, pick an older one, and restore it without leaving the Xbox interface. The feature starts with Forza Horizon 6 (found under Manage game and add-ons, Saved data, Restore saved data), with more titles planned for later updates.
5. Expanded and easier wishlists
You can add both released and upcoming games to your wishlist straight from game cards. The maximum number of games you can wishlist has increased to 1,000, giving you more room to track titles you want to play or buy later.
6. Subscription badges on the Manage Installation page
The Manage Installation page now displays badges that clearly indicate whether a base game or its add-ons come from a subscription such as Game Pass. This makes it simpler to see how you own or access each piece of content.
The update also includes several bug fixes, such as resolving a crash that could occur while scrolling in My games and apps and correcting an issue with Chinese characters appearing in the on-screen keyboard under the Canadian French locale, plus general stability and performance improvements.
To install the update manually, go to Settings, System, Updates. Otherwise it should download and install automatically on most consoles. These changes continue Microsoft’s steady stream of refinements to the Xbox experience in 2026, with a clear focus on backwards compatibility, cloud convenience, and library management.
