In June, India will host South Africa for a five-match T20 International series. The series will begin barely ten days after the Indian Premier League's 15th season concludes (IPL). The five-match T20I series will begin India's preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, which will take place in Australia later this year in the months of October and November. During the IPL 2022 playoffs, the roster for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa is expected to be announced (May 24-29).
The selectors will keep a close eye on the IPL's emerging stars, and they may offer a chance to the pool of outstanding players, given that India will play England in July, followed by the Asia Cup in August-September. Let's take a look at these three players who could make their international debut in the Proteas' five-match series.
Umran Malik
Malik's blistering pace has remained steady, instilling fear in the batter's head. The pace sensation from Jammu and Kashmir has become accustomed to bowling at 150kph.
With stats of 5/25 in SRH's match against Gujarat Titans, the 22-year-old got his maiden fifer in T20 cricket. Malik has 15 wickets at an average of 19.13 and an economy rate of 8.44 in nine IPL 2022 matches thus far. Malik has taken 17 wickets in nine matches for SRH, second only to left-arm bowler T Natarajan.
According to some experts on Betting Sites in India, Malik became the fourth bowler to bowl a maiden in an innings' 20th over. To reach the milestone, he was joined by Lasith Malinga, Irfan Pathan, and Jaydev Unadkat.
Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh has been teamed with Trent Boult of New Zealand as the Royals' new-ball bowling tandem. So far in IPL 2022, the Karnataka spinner has 12 wickets at an economy rate of 7.92 in ten games. Some Sports Betting Sites have already predicted him as next Zaheer Khan.
Rovman Powell (16 off nine balls) and Lalit Yadav (37 in 21 deliveries) looked relaxed at the crease as Delhi Capitals needed 36 runs in the final two overs to complete the chase. Prasidh bowled a single wicket over and got the better of Lalit on the third bowl of the penultimate over to flip the contest around.
Since his debut against England last year, Prasidh has appeared in seven One-Day Internationals for India. However, the Karnataka bowler has yet to represent India in Test and T20I cricket.
Ayush Badoni
Among the pool of rising players, Badoni has been one of the IPL 2022 finds. On his IPL debut, the 22-year-old hit 54 runs in 41 balls against a Gujarat Titans bowling attack that included Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson, and Rashid Khan. Against Ferguson's blistering speed, the youngster demonstrated a magnificent assortment of strokes, slog-sweeping Rashid Khan's googly for six-over-deep midwicket.
Badoni hasn't been able to maintain his consistency; in the first four innings, he scored 102 runs while striking out at a rate of 156.92. However, in the last four innings, the Delhi batsman could only score 36 runs, with a strike rate of 138. Cricket analysts have praised his ability to play with a calm and cool demeanor and absorb pressure in high-pressure circumstances. After his gutsy knock on his IPL debut, LSG skipper KL Rahul dubbed him 'Baby AB.'
