“One of my biggest concerns in my career is just to figure out how to exit gracefully,” Drake recently told LeBron James on HBO’s The Shop, saying he didn’t want to “overstay [his] welcome.”
We can hardly believe that he would turn out to be in this case since he is known to have been breaking records relentlessly. However, Drizzy looks like he has already figured out a way out for himself, which is one of the most popular industry for the past few years - eSports.
According to the report of Forbes, Drake has recently joined with Scooter Braun, who is the manager that was behind some famous names like Justin Bieber as well as Ariana Grande. Drake acts as one of the co-owners of a famous esports company called 100 Thieves. This company is relatively new whose founder is Matt “Nadeshot” Haag - a professional gamer.
Dan Gilbert - the owner of both Cleveland Cavaliers - an American professional basketball team - and also Quicken Loans- a mortgage lending company, has also made investments which are worth millions of dollars to the organization. He helps bring the total funding of the company to $25 million.
Haag once stated that with the support from Drake and Scooter, the company is going to build a long lasting brand based on the apparel and content that their fans have come to love, aggressively expand their appearance into more games, scale their apparel business, and develop a world-class management team.
It’s weird how esports is typically known to be based on the multiplayer and organized video game competitions, but now it has become an ideal vessel for the purpose of building malleable lifestyle companies. The company which Drake has recently become a co-owner was once a clothing brand, and now it has become an esports company. And apparently, both Drake as well as Braun realize the potential of the company and decide to invest in building out its reputation.
