The sporting shoes and gears company has just signed Jian Zihao, a Chinese player of League of Legends. He will team up with basketball player LeBron James to create a new and clever shirt design.
SportsPro reported that Zihao, or Uzi as we all call him, will work on “Dribble &” campaign with James. Their shared campaign will have “Dribble & Carry” on the shirts. This campaign initially began as a response to Laura Ingraham, host of Fox News, commenting “shut up and dribble” when James criticized Donald Trump, the President of the United States.
Jian “Uzi” Zihao has been the very first player in eSports that Nike has sponsored. However, Nike was not the first sport-related company to try out with eSports. There was an announcement about a partnership between Champion and Team Dignitas in September of this year. The deal involves Champion providing the teams under Team Dignitas with casual wear along with official uniforms.
eSports have been experiencing a powerful boost among the mainstream media lately. It all started with Ninja making an appearance on the cover of ESPN Magazine. Ninja was the first-ever professional gamer in history to make an appearance on this magazine’s cover.
However, this is the only good news for Uzi at the moment, because his team, Royal Never Give Up, has just been defeated. They ended their journey early at the 2018 season League of Legends World Championship. The team suffered a hard loss to G2 Esports on Saturday last week in the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
RNG has consistently been ranked as one of the strongest teams in the world after they won the MSI tournament earlier this year. Uzi himself is also a regular to any chart about the best LoL players in the entire world. He has also topped the Worlds 2018 Top 20 chart recently.
