PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUND, or PUBG as we all like to call it, has just officially announced its plans to create professional leagues for the Europe and North America regions. The PEL or PUBG Europe League will be held in the Europe continent while the NPL or National PUBG League will be organized in the North of the America continent.
These competitions that are on a professional level will be started in 2019. The announcement stated that they would be the very first main steps of their 5-year plan for esports. Yes, they did mention a 5-year plan for esports. They also went on and added that the leagues will be parts of a global league that will be introduced in 2019’s January.
All the regions in this global league will have local competitions in a system that has three phases. The ones who win these phases will be awarded one spot at the global events as well as money. Both the leagues in EU and NA will be allotted a quite high amount of money that is $1 million.
The League is going to be only in the first-person perspective and it will pin a total of 16 squads on either Miramar or Erangel, where the competitors will be competing for the spot of the last team alive while gathering any kill they can and trying to get the legendary chicken dinner. These leagues will be under the control of a partnership including StarLadder and OGN with OGN being responsible for the National PUBG League while StarLadder will be responsible for the PUBG Europe League. They also stated that the teams participating will have housing and travel subsidized.
PlayerUnknown's Battleground or as we all like to shorten it, PUBG, is one of the most popular games of the years 2017 and 2018. It became one of the best-selling games of all time with an incredible number of 50 million copies sold a mere few months after its official full release. This game shows promises for a great eSport league.
