Vitality’s run in CS_SUMMIT turned out to be a blast. Their dominant performance concluded the CS:GO event with a neat 2-0 victory over Liquid (16-9 on Nuke, 16-13 on Overpass) in the grand final. The Frenchmen brought home the trophy with $64,500 in prize money. 18-year-old prodigy Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut also scooped himself the MVP award.

After defeating ENCE 2-1, Vitality faced Liquid in the grand final with the first map being Nuke. In this very tournament in the group stage, Vitality crushed Liquid with a 16-3 on the same map. The same scenario seemed to repeat itself when Zyw0o and Co. maintained good performance in the first half, kicking off the CT side with a pistol round win and trading the first couple of gun rounds for a 5-1 lead.

After several attempts to penetrate through the CT’s defense, Liquid found themselves overwhelmed by the Frenchman’s firepower, losing 12 rounds in the first half. Liquid was falling apart in the second half after losing the pistol round to Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt & Co. and eventually got to a dire 4-15 situation. The North American side held on to the map for five another rounds in a row, but Vitality concluded the map with a 3v4 situation in the lower bombsite.

The first map went the way of the Frenchmen

Liquid looked set to bring back the series to their own hands with a good start on Overpass, securing a 3-0 lead after Nick "nitr0" Cannella denied a 1v3 clutch situation from Cédric "RpK" Guipouy. However, things went all gloomy for team Liquid when Vitality got a decent economy to upgrade their weapons. Liquid once again struggled to tear through the Frenchmen’s bombsites only to see their advantages taken away. After the first half, Vitality got the lead with 11-4 scoreline.

Coming to the second half, things looked pretty good for Liquid when they got a good start of the pistol round, killing most of Vitality’s members. However, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut stepped up with a great 1v3  clutch in the A bombsite, pushing the lead to a further degree. Liquid had to come into action with each team member’s contribution, shortening the deficit to a 13-14. However, that was all the North American’s side could do, being unable to stop the Frenchmen’s march. Vitality sealed the deal with a 16-13 victory on Overpass, winning the series 2-0.

Though being the favorite to win the tournament, Liquid failed the grand final again

Failing to win the event, Liquid now only have one chance left to dethrone Astralis in the HLTV ranking before the Danish squad becomes active again in June. That is DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019 which takes place right after this event. Liquid needs a championship in the series to get enough point in order to claim the #1 ranking in the world.
