We received the news back in last April about the new installment in the Castlevania series of Konami, and this time it will be a mobile game. Similar to the recent reactions following the announcement of Alien and Diablo mobile versions, the PC and console fans of Castlevania do not seem too welcoming of this mobile addition.
Another mobile game from AAA franchise
But if we just look at it as an individual game, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls sounds pretty cool? It is a 2D side-scrolling game but all of its monsters, environments, and monsters are made in 3D. So basically it is a 2.5 D game.
Just like other mobile games that come from major game franchises, the game will feature many characters through all the installments in the series. Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls will also have the option for online play mode with cooperative gameplay of up to four players. And of course, it is a free-2-play game.
Following the original announcement last year, just a month after that a closed beta was done in Japan which leaked much footage to the public. Check out some of it in the video below:
Will it release worldwide?
One question that everyone is concerned of is that if Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls will be released worldwide. Like with many other titles we have seen these past years a game can make it big in Asia markets but still many people in the West would never hear of it due to lack of globalization and difficult to localize the game for the West.
However, from a report of Konami reported on Twitter by analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter, we have a chance to glimpse at a list of upcoming games from the company. From the list we know that Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls is going to be released worldwide, but the exact day of the release is still currently unclear.
