Genshin Impact 4.2 released new regions in Fontaine called Morte Region and Erinnyes Forest. While you can find Morte Region east of the Belleau Region, Erinnyes Forest is right north of the Morte Region. While they may not be the largest lands, they do have crucial quests and a lot of hidden chests that grant you rewards.

Check out some Fontaine hidden chests you may have yet explored in version 4.2.

Orthant’s Of Wishes chest

  • Hop over to the underground teleport waypoint at Fort Charybdis Ruins.
  • Make your way to the Orthant’s of Wishes.
  • Once you're there, hop onto the petite gear to the east and give it a little push to set it in motion.
  • Ride the wind current to reach the highest gear in the cave, where a Precious chest awaits.

Don't forget to snag a Hydroculus from the gear perched atop the chest if you fancy.
Go to the top to find the Luxurious Chest and a Hydroculus.

As you journey towards the Orthant's of Wishes, be ready to face a variety of foes. It's advisable to bring along a solid Genshin Impact team to handle whatever challenges may arise.

Secret torches

  • Venture into the Erinnyes: Eastern Waterway cave located near the Weeping Willow of the Lake.
  • Use the cannon to get rid of the obstructing wall.
  • Once you're inside, extinguish four torches using a Hydro user in Genshin Impact to summon both an adversary and an Exquisite chest.
Light up these torches with Hydro characters' attacks.

Space Force Cadet achievement

  • Teleport to the island southeast of the East Slopes of Mont Automnequi and:
  • Take the portal west of the waypoint.
  • Solve three Potential Energy Orbs challenges.
  • Solving the puzzles successfully will give you a Precious chest and the Space Force Cadet Achievement in Genshin Impact.

Attack a tree

This may sound quite strange among other Fontaine hidden chests. However, it gives you awards, so who cares?
Do you know going at a tree can also get your rewards?
  • Swiftly teleport to the waypoint southeast of the Weeping Willow of the Lake.
  • Soar eastward toward a broken house.
  • Once inside, give the tree three whacks to dislodge an apple and unveil a Precious chest.

This particular assignment is part of the eight Genshin Impact Treasure Map missions, ultimately revealing the clandestine Rainbow Rose's Ideals secret paper.

Rescue a puppy

Head northeast of the Weeping Willow and liberate the imprisoned dog by unlocking its cage. Once freed, the grateful pup will lead you to a concealed Common chest in Genshin Impact.

This is similar to one of the hidden quests in Inazuma before.

Orthant’s Of Memory Chest

Visit the Orthant’s of Memory puzzle site and swim towards the sealed door. Follow these steps to unlock it:

  • Ride the lift next to the door to descend to the basement.
  • Retrieve the Special Key from the library’s shelf.
  • Take the lift back up.
  • Employ the key to unlock the door.
  • Venture inside to discover a Luxurious chest awaiting your arrival.

Blast Strange Eels

While navigating the Source of All Waters: The Great Fontaine Lake, you'll encounter Strange Eels in the Morte Region, Liffey Region, and Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering Region.

To deal with these peculiar underwater creatures and unlock chests, deploy the ability of a Xenochromatic Creature.

Ensure you target groups of two or three Eels simultaneously to prevent respawn.

The difficulty and agility of the Eels determine the chest's quality, ranging from Common to Exquisite in Genshin Impact.

Destroy underwater rocks

In the Morte Region, you'll find two rocks concealing an Exquisite chest. Follow these steps to access the first hidden chest:

  • Teleport to the waypoint outside the Orthant’s of Persona.
  • Swim south.
  • Utilize the Crab Ability.
  • Strike the rock with the ability.
  • Open the Exquisite chest that is revealed.
There are two Fontaine hidden chests in these areas, just destroy the rocks to get them.

For the second hidden chest in Fontaine:

  • Head south and take a plunge into the water.
  • Swim westward towards the shipwreck, where you'll acquire the Crab Ability.
  • Move behind the ship, demolish the rock
  • Defeat the lurking enemy, and claim the Exquisite chest.

This assignment is a segment of the Questioning Melusine and Answering Machine quest in Genshin Impact.

If Travelers haven't unlocked the waypoint, they can do so by accurately answering Permingeat's questions using the cannon to obliterate the obstructing rock.
