With Sumeru's release coming ever closer, leaks have come out about the upcoming reactions of Dendro, the only element absent in Genshin Impact so far. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase everything you need to know about Overgrown and Intensified, the two new Dendro elements.
1. About Overgrown And Intensified
Currently, the only Dendro reaction in the game is Burning, which can be triggered by Dendro and Pyro. It deals additional damage over time to opponents.
In 3.0, Dendro will react with Hydro to trigger Overgrown and react with Electro to trigger Intensified. It won't react with Anemo, Cryo and Geo. Overall, this is a well-thought-out decision, as Cryo already reacts with too many elements.
Overgrown
When combined with Hydro, Dendro would trigger Overgrown. When this happens, seeds would drop and grow into mushrooms, which deals AoE Dendro damage. Players can keep applying Hydro to these mushrooms to continue dealing additional damage to opponents.
Intensified
When combined with Electro, Dendro would trigger Intensified. When this happens, the reaction drops one Electro particle and amplifies the Electro and Dendro damage taken by the affected enemies. The effect would last for 7 seconds.
2. Dendro reaction analysis
Indirect Electro buff
Overall, out of the current 6 elements in the game, Electro is the most lacking in the utility department. Looks like the new Dendro + Electro reaction is going to fix that issue - Intensified works similar to Superconduct, except for the fact that it buffs Electro + Dendro instead of Physical.
Electro DPS characters like Raiden and Yae Miko are going to get a new support option now. By running a Dendro support, they would be able to increase their DPS potential greatly.
Indirect Cryo nerf
A lot of fans have been complaining about the fact that Cryo does not have any reaction to Dendro. However, this is probably a good decision, as the element is already pretty overpowered. It has Melt for damage, Freeze for CC, Shatter for burst damage and Superconduct for physical amp.
3 out of the 6 best DPS in the game are Cryo - they probably don't need another buff.
More damage to Hydro DPS
With Overgrown, players should be able to add more damage to Hydro DPS characters by running a Dendro support. Placing Dendro and repeatedly triggering the reaction to grow the mushroom would give players extra Dendro damage.
3. Future elemental reactions
It is still too early to know if miHoYo is going to add more reactions for Dendro or not. It is actually a big surprise to many theory crafters that Geo does not react to Dendro at all. Many fans were expecting something similar to Overgrown, which allows Geo users to deal extra damage.
