Jing Yuan, an Erudition character in Honkai: Star Rail, shares the ability to hit in an area of effect (AoE) with other characters of the same class like Serval and Himeko. However, Jing Yuan's mechanics are slightly more intricate. Consequently, players should not only be aware of how to build Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail but also understand the mechanics of the General. This knowledge is crucial for optimizing Jing Yuan's abilities and harnessing the full strength of his Lightning Lord.

In addition to Jing Yuan's optimal weapon, the 5-star Himeko weapon "Before Dawn" known as Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail, another viable choice for him is "Night on the Milky Way." Although the passive ability may not be an ideal fit for the General, the fact that it is a 5-star equipment piece is sufficient to surpass certain 4-star alternatives in terms of performance.

When it comes to 4-star Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail, there are several options available. The Battle Pass weapon "Today is Another Peaceful Day" is an excellent choice as it provides Jing Yuan with an unconditional and universal damage bonus.

For non-spending players who have obtained "The Birth of the Self" Light Cone from the Warps, it can be effectively used on Jing Yuan as it enhances the damage of his Lightning Lord's follow-up attacks.

Lastly, F2P players have access to "The Seriousness of Breakfast," a Light Cone that can be obtained from the Forgotten Hall, quests, or even by opening the triple authentication door in Honkai: Star Rail. This Light Cone is a viable option for F2P players to equip on Jing Yuan.

Jing Yuan Trace Priority

In Honkai: Star Rail, the Talent of Jing Yuan takes the highest priority as it directly affects the scaling of his Lightning Lord damage. Following that, the Skill and Ultimate abilities hold secondary importance, while Basic Attack is considered the least significant aspect for the General.

How To Play Jing Yuan In Honkai: Star Rail

Jing Yuan is an Erudition character in Honkai: Star Rail with a distinctive playstyle centered around his Lightning Lord (LL). The LL's damage is categorized as a follow-up attack, allowing players to utilize items that enhance follow-up damage or Blessings of Elation in the Simulated Universe.

Jing Yuan's ultimate

The Lightning Lord possesses a base SPD (speed) of 60 and automatically strikes (this can be observed in the turn-sequence on the top-left). It starts with a minimum of three stacks and can accumulate up to 10 stacks. Each stack determines the number of hits the LL will deliver, and every additional stack increases its SPD by 10. To acquire more stacks, players must utilize their Skill and Ultimate abilities, which grant two and three stacks, respectively.

During its turn, the Lightning Lord in Honkai: Star Rail targets three enemies simultaneously: one primary target and two adjacent targets. The main target sustains full damage, while the neighboring enemies endure 25% of the original damage. It's important to note that the main target is chosen randomly, so there are instances where the LL may strike an enemy at the end of the line, resulting in only one adjacent target being hit. Fortunately, each hit from the LL designates a different main target, mitigating the potential harshness of this randomness.

Typically, the Lightning Lord moves shortly after Jing Yuan employs his Skill, leaving players with only five stacks. Since it requires three to four Skill uses to replenish his Ultimate, obtaining more than five stacks can prove challenging. This is where an increase in SPD (speed) and the SPD stat become advantageous for Jing Yuan. Having more than five stacks becomes even more critical once players unlock Jing Yuan's Ascension 2 Trace, which amplifies the Lightning Lord's Critical Damage by 25%.
