Over the past few years, Spiderweb Software has made quite a reputation for themselves, having brought several entries in their fantastic Avernum and Avadon RPG series to the iPad platform. Needless to say, the old-school gameplay of those games transfers incredibly well to the touchscreen. Well, the studio is turning 25 this year, and it is celebrating this occasion with an upcoming game titled Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror. Check out the trailer below to learn more about this game:
In Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror, you will be the child of a reigning Queen who has, up to that point, had a luxurious upbringing. But now that you’ve come of age, your mother decides to throw you out into the war-ravaged realm all by yourself. Now, to prove that you are a worthy member of the court, you must learn to survive and find ways to conquer that land.
However, if you do manage to achieve power on your own, then why should you continue to you’re your mother? As stated in the game’s description, “The Queen thinks you will submit and join the family business. You might have other ideas …" Similar to other games from Spiderweb, Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror allows you to take multiple paths to victory.
The game is planned to come out in Q3 this year for PC, with an iOS version coming shortly afterwards. One exciting development is that Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror will be available for iPhones as well. All of the previous games from Spiderweb have been exclusive for iPad since they are pretty UI and menu intensive and getting them to play well on the smaller screens of the iPhones would take some serious reworking.
Still, Spiderweb has said that it has always wanted to bring its games to iPhone too, so it seems like the company is taking the opportunity with Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror to give that a shot. It’s intriguing to see how it will turn out. Keep an eye out for more updates on this game!
