We are big fans of the action platformer genre here at Gurugamer, and surely we are not alone in that regard. But here is the thing that many will probably disagree with: We actually prefer games that keep things straightforward than overly-complicated ones. Yes, having dozen of abilities and a billion types of attacks can be fun, but there’s just something really special about just running and jumping around, slashing any enemy in your way. It just feels… pure.

In fact, among our favorite action platformers on mobile are Goblin Sword and Sword of Xolan, and they both stick to the traditional formula of simple hacking and slashing, with some small upgrade systems to spice things up a little bit. The reason we mention these 2 titles here is that we get a similar impression from Cracked Crusaders, an upcoming action platformer made by developer Webbysoft. Check out its trailer below to see what the game has to offer:

Cracked Crusaders follows the footsteps of Milton, a shepherd whose herd has been abducted. Naturally, he will not have any of it, and thus he now sets out to get his precious flock back. Milton won’t be alone on this quest, however, as he’ll have the company of his dog Holly and his duck friend Dory.

You can choose to play as the shepherd himself, his dog, or his duck

In terms of gameplay, you can choose to play as any of these 3 characters. You’d expect each of them to have some unique abilities, right? Unfortunately, that isn’t the case here. This is for cosmetic purposes only, and all 3 characters will function exactly the same. Still, Cracked Crusaders offers a hundred stages for you to play through and as you progress, you’ll be able to unlock new powers such as double jump.

Cracked Crusaders is set to launch next month on the 5th of November. It is a free-to-play game with ads included, but you do have the option to remove them via a one-time IAP.  For more information, check out the game’s official website.
