Battle Royale's popularity is still raging. Following that trend, N3TWORK and The Tetris Company are developing a brand-new game called Tetris Royale in their multiyear partnership. The game is basically a mobile adaptation of Tetris 99, an incredibly addicting game on Nintendo Switch with the battle royale gameplay.

Tetris Royale
Tetris Royale is coming to mobile platforms this year.

For those who are not familiar with the name Tetris 99 (but don't tell me that you don't know Tetris!), here is some information for you to catch up:

Tetris 99 is a free online multiplayer version of the famous puzzle game Tetris, which was originally released in 1984. The game is developed by Arika and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch in February 2019. As a battle royale title, Tetris 99 features a "battleground" where 99 players can compete concurrently. The core gameplay follows the traditional Tetris rules where players have to build up rows with falling tetrominoes in order to clear them off the board, preventing them from stacking up and eventually overflowing. The twist is, participants can also "attack" others by sending"garbage rows" to their games, thus making them fail unless they can clear those rows quickly in response.

Allowing up to 100 players to play at the same time, Tetris Royale is expected to become another successful game in the Tetris series. In fact, this is the first time N3TWORK and The Tetris Company have worked together on a Tetris title. That could lead to the expansion of this franchise in the future.

Besides its huge competitive mode, Tetris Royale will also offer many options for players to choose such as a Solo marathon mode or daily challenges. By participating, players can get rewarded and gain access to the customization system, obtain power-ups, and earn boosters that will benefit them in battle matches.

Tetris Royale is still under development. However, we can expect to see it hit the App Store and Google Play in 2019. Should be a while, so you might want to try another Battle Royale titles? How about the quirky Flappy Bird Battle Royale that we reported just a few days ago?
