About a month back, developers DotEmu and Lizardcube announced that they had teamed up with Playdigious to bring their fantastic remake of the classic platformer Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap mobile. Alongside that, they also said that the game would be available for pre-registration at a 30% discounted price. This was true for Android users, who have been able to pre-order the game on Google Play since the announcement was made. On iOS, however, there was nothing to be seen.

Now, though, with Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap scheduled to launch tomorrow, the developers finally made good on their promise and put the game up for pre-order on the App Store at a price of $5.99 (Rs 420), which is 30% cheaper than its normal price. This means you have less than a day to grab it at a discounted price for your iOS device, so if you intend to do so, don’t hesitate.

Classic platforming gameplay

As we previously reported, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap is a classic that dates all the way back to 1989. Then, in 2017, it received a remake version on PC and consoles that retained the old gameplay but completely overhauled the graphics with a hand-drawn art style – giving the game a cartoon aesthetic. There’s also an option to play in the original graphics for those who want to play it as it was back in the days. If you are among the people who grew up playing the original title, this will no doubt be a nice trip back to your childhood.

Nostalgia aside though, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is a great 2D action platformer in its own rights, featuring a fascinating adventure and engaging gameplay where you can transform into different animals to overcome the various challenges that the game throws at you. Even if you haven’t played the original version, as long as you are a fan of the platformer genre, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is a game you should not miss out on.
