Minecraft is a huge game with a great number of hidden mechanics. Quite a few of them can be taken advantage of by players, however, that usually takes a lot of trial and error. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the 6 Minecraft 1.19 secrets that players might not know.

1. Getting better enchantments on items

This trick takes advantage of the easily enchanted nature of gold tools in Minecraft. Before enchanting an item or tool, players need to get a gold tool of the same type in their inventory. For example, if they want to enchant a netherite sword, they need to also get a gold sword. This means the trick will not work with tools that do not have a gold variant like the Trident.

Gold items always get better enchantment generation.

In the enchanting UI, just place the gold item into the enchanting table first to generate better enchantments due to gold's enchantability. Afterward, switch the tool players want to enchant into the slot. This ensures the enchanting UI is not reset, allowing players to get better enchantments.

2. Boost crops growth

Minecraft's farming mechanism is rather weird. If there are multiple rows of the same crop next to each other, a penalty would be applied to their growth speed. This is why players need to plant at least 2 types of crops on their farms to maximize the growth speed.

Additionally, bees can be used to accelerate the growth of crops by pollinating them. After collecting pollen from flowers, bees visually drop pollen particles as they make their way back to their hive or nest. If these particles land on a crop, the crop advances one growth stage. Each bee can pollinate up to 10 crops per trip. Players can utilize this behavior by placing their crops between beehives and flowers to maximize crop pollen exposure.

3. Prevent magma damage

Magma is one of the more annoying blocks in Minecraft, both in the overworld and the Nether. They inflict fire damage continuously as long as players are in contact. The Frost Walker boot enchantment eliminates all damage from magma blocks and campfires. The boots do not take durability damage while on these blocks.

Frost Walker boots can also walk on top of water blocks.

By using this enchantment, players should be able to explore safely, ignoring magma.

4. Bubble column

A bubble column is a fluid generated by placing magma blocks or soul sand in water (source). Bubble columns push or pull entities and items in certain directions:

  • When soul sand is placed under source water blocks, an upward bubble column is generated.
  • When a magma block is placed underwater, a whirlpool (downward) bubble column is generated.
Players can use this mechanic to build elevators fairly easily.

5. Duplicate flowers with bone meal

Minecraft veterans probably already know that using bonemeal on a grass block will create flowers. However, they are probably unfamiliar with flower duplication. If the player uses bonemeal on double tall flowers, such as the peony, rose and lilac, a duplicate flower would drop. This means players can get an infinite amount of dye from these flowers, as long as they can farm bonemeal.

Players can get as much dye as they want.
