Minecraft's 26.1 update recently introduced adorable new models and custom sounds for baby mobs, making farms and pets even cuter. While this is a fantastic step forward, many adult mobs continue to use outdated designs that feel blocky and ancient compared to newer additions. Here are five mobs that could greatly benefit from a model overhaul to bring them in line with modern Minecraft aesthetics.
1. Spider
The spider is one of Minecraft's original mobs, and its model shows its age with completely straight, rigid legs and a simplistic body. A redesign could introduce segmented, curved legs for more natural climbing and walking animations. Updating the face with more detailed fangs and eyes would make this cave dweller far more intimidating and realistic.
2. Phantom
Phantoms have haunted sleepless players since the Update Aquatic, but their model remains largely unchanged. The tattered wings and basic skull-like head feel repetitive. New model variants with different wing shapes or glowing effects, paired with improved diving animations, would refresh these sky pests and make avoiding sleep even more thrilling.
3. Horse
Horses offer multiple texture variants, but the base model could use variety too. Imagine unique ear shapes, bushy manes, or flowing tails tailored to each breed. Smoother galloping animations and better saddle integration would elevate these essential mounts to match the detail of newer animals like camels.
4. Ravager
The ravager charges through villages with power, yet its blocky design and stiff animations make it look underwhelming. A model update with more muscular limbs, dynamic horns, and fluid attack poses would amplify its threat level. Adding subtle armor details could tie it better to illager raids.
5. Iron Golem
As a village guardian, the iron golem deserves a majestic redesign. Its current stiff, boxy form contrasts with fluid modern mobs. Proportions closer to a real golem, articulated joints for smoother swings, and a more prominent poppy would make this protector feel truly heroic and alive.
