Minecraft’s survival mode is all about building your world however you want, and trading is a solid way to score rare stuff. Besides Villagers, you can also trade with Piglins, those gold-loving folks in the Nether who can be super helpful or a total pain, depending on how you roll.
Here’s everything you need to know about Piglin trades in 2025, with the latest tips to make trading smooth.
What can you get from Piglin trades?
Piglins give out items at random, so you’re stuck with whatever they toss your way. Here’s the full list of what you can get, updated with the 2025 drop rates from Minecraft 1.21:
Piglin trade item | Chance of dropping |
---|---|
Crying Obsidian | 9.50% |
Enchanted Book with Soul Speed | 1.20% |
Ender Pearl | 4.80% |
Fire Charge | 9.50% |
Glowstone Dust | 4.80% |
Gravel | 9.50% |
Iron Boots with Soul Speed Enchantment | 2.00% |
Iron Nugget | 2.40% |
Leather | 9.50% |
Magma Cream | 4.80% |
Nether Brick | 9.50% |
Nether Quartz | 4.80% |
Obsidian | 9.50% |
Potion of Fire Resistance | 2.40% |
Soul Sand | 9.50% |
Splash Potion of Fire Resistance | 2.40% |
String | 4.80% |
Shroomlight | 2.00% |
Piglins can hook you up with some great items. Ender Pearls are a big deal for crafting Eyes of Ender to hit up the End, but they’re not easy to get. Iron Boots with Soul Speed are awesome for zipping around the Nether’s soul sand areas, especially if you’re trying to speedrun. The new Shroomlight from the 1.21 update is also handy for lighting up your builds.
Where to find Piglins & how to trade
1. Piglin locations
Piglins only hang out in the Nether, a rough place full of lava and nasty mobs. You’ll need a Nether Portal (made with Obsidian and a Flint and Steel) to get there. Look for Piglins in Crimson Forests or Nether Wastes, and with the 1.21 update, you can also find them in the new Ashen Ruins biome, where they spawn more often.
Always pack some gold before you go, or Piglins will come after you. Keep an eye on patch notes, since where they spawn can change with updates.
2. How to trade with Piglins
Piglins are all about gold. No gold, no deal—they’ll just attack you. Here’s how to trade with them:
- Wear at least one piece of Gold Armor (like a helmet or boots) to keep them chill.
- Drop a Gold Ingot near a Piglin.
- They’ll check it out and toss you a random item from the list above.
To get Gold Ingots, smelt Gold Ore in a Furnace. You can find Gold Ore in deep caves or Nether gold deposits, and the 1.21 update made it a bit easier to grab in Ashen Ruins.
