Via Intragames, we have an overview of Bookbound Brigade :

This title is all about beating those literary and historical characters that we learned from school. In order to do that, you must command an excellent team of fictional and real heroes in a side-scrolling platformer adventure in a 2D graphic style. You can gather your team from the cast of Robin Hood, Monkey King, Dorothy Gale, Cassandra, Queen Victoria, Nikola Tesla, King Arthur, and Dracula.

You gather your team from the cast of fiction or real heroes.

Your team mission is to avenge the world which has plunged into total chaos because of the ‘Book of Books’ theft. By the way, that book is a volume including all the non-fiction and fiction works ever written.

Some Key Features of Bookbound Brigade

Like in any game worthy of being in the Metroidvania genre, you will fight, explore, backtrack, develop your skills, and solve puzzles and quests in Bookbound Bridge. However, there is a twist in this title.

You will fight, explore, backtrack, develop your skills, and solve puzzles and quests.

The developer has made all the game characters (playable and nonplayable) base on literature and history. Therefore, you will undoubtedly see some familiar faces and names. Bookbound Bridge features a unique hand-drawing visual style. It took inspiration from book illustration quite different from the usual pixel art we see in other games in the genre.

You will play as a brigade of heroes

You will command a party of "hero" characters.

Just as the name of the game suggests, you will not play as a solo hero in this game. You will command a party of "hero" characters, each on with a different set of skills and traits; they move in formation and fight as a unit.
