The Kotaku's report says that Treyarch has been taking over the release of 2020 Call of Duty. This comes after the announcement of Activision to Sledgehammer and Raven studios that they have quit the series.

So because this change comes kinda late in the development process, Sledgehammer and Raven studios will continue to act supporting role for Treyarch until the release in 2020.

The Kotaku's report has claimed that Treyarch will be taking over the release of 2020 Call of Duty.

Treyarch Studios will in charge of finishing on the 2020 installments of the popular Back Ops series, it will have the title Call of Duty: Black Ops 5.

Black Ops 5' campaign mode

In the previous game in the series, Black Ops 4, the developers have made a decision truly against the usual that is to remove the campaign mode in that release. They did that and replace it with a battle royale mode - the first one in the series. That mode has the name Blackout.

But with this 5th version, it seems like they will come back to the tradition. Moreover, it is likely that Treyarch will utilize all those original work from Sledgehammer and Raven to make their own campaign for Black Ops.

Originally, the studios have been developing a campaign with the setting of the Cold War. The report also said that Treyarch will probably continue with this setting.

Free-to-Play?

The series has received big success in those first days of the release of Black Ops 4. But still, the overall revenue of Activision is somewhat lower than expected in the whole life cycle of the game.

Now executives of Activision is in the progress of considering the possibility of a free-to-play model for those new titles in Call of Duty franchise. They might as well introduce some free elements to the upcoming Modern Warfare 4.

Next-Gen availability?

We are expecting to see the next-gen consoles sometime in 2020, and the report also confirms that they will make Black Ops 5 for both PS5 and PS4 system.

There is also the possibility that Call of Duty of 2020 will be among the first titles for PS5.  That means that Treyarch, Sledgehammer, and Raven will be able to make a game with really advanced graphics with the hardware power of PS5.
