The Call of Duty x Squid Game collaboration, first revealed earlier this month, is scheduled to launch just one week after the premiere of the show's second season, which is currently streaming on Netflix.

While it may not rival the scale of Fortnite's numerous crossovers, Call of Duty's partnership with Squid Game is the latest in a series of high-profile collaborations featured in Activision's blockbuster FPS. Over the years, Call of Duty has teamed up with horror franchises like Scream and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, hip-hop icons such as Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, and even global football stars like Lionel Messi. With its ongoing popularity, many more collaborations are likely on the horizon, and the next one could be just around the corner.

Call of Duty x Squid Game Collaboration Release Date

In a newly released trailer, Activision confirmed that the highly anticipated Call of Duty x Squid Game collaboration will officially launch on Friday, January 3. The trailer's description teases an exciting lineup, including Squid Game-themed operator skins, weapon blueprints, limited-time modes, and more. While details about the limited-time modes remain unconfirmed, the trailer hints at the inclusion of the show's iconic "red light, green light" game. In this mode, players race to cross the finish line but must freeze completely whenever "red light" is called, or face elimination.

The trailer also offers a detailed glimpse at the Squid Game-themed skins set to arrive in Call of Duty as part of this collaboration. Players can expect to see the iconic red jumpsuits worn by the show’s enforcers and the mysterious Front Man's black attire, among other cosmetics. While Activision has yet to confirm the exact method for obtaining these items, several Squid Game bundles will likely be available in the Call of Duty store starting January 3. These bundles are expected to include operator skins, weapon blueprints, and more, giving fans plenty of customization options during the collaboration.

After its groundbreaking debut in 2021, Squid Game has returned with its highly-anticipated second season, which premiered on Netflix on December 26. The new season delivers seven fresh episodes, set three years after the intense events of Season 1. Fans will see Seong Gi-hun step back into the deadly competition alongside a new roster of participants. While the wait between the first two seasons spanned a lengthy three years, fans can look forward to the third and final season, already slated for a 2025 release.
