Klei first announced Griftlands around two years ago. However, since then we haven't got much info about this new RPG game from the company.
However, at the show of PC Gaming this Monday afternoon, we have got the new trailer. From this trailer, we see the very first gameplay of this title and also get a glimpse at the main mechanics of this game. As the trailer demonstrates, turns out Griftlands is a deck-builder RPG game where players take on the task of solving problems via complex solutions.
A narrative-heavy deck-building game
And we also see that it will be a much narrative-heavy game than the majority of card games on the market. It is filled with cutscenes that surround its dialogue and story with foes and friends in the battle's midst.
The cutscenes also feature the iconic comic book graphic style of Klei into the world of Griftlands. Aside from the main events, which are the battles, your character will also be able to engage with NPCs like bartenders and traders to trade goods and learn about rumours.
And I think that the developer will also implement a character building mechanism in some way. Specifically, you could notice from the screenshots of the game those tags like [Intelligence] and [Bartender] next to the dialogue options.
Maybe that suggests you could decide on your character's background as well as building up your stats that you help you in the story and on the battlefield.
The trailer of Griftlands
In this trailer, the player is trying to rescue the hostage in different ways.
We don't know the final release day of Griftlands yet, but Klei's developers revealed when we would get to try the game out.
The game will enter the Alpha phase on the 11th of this July; then players could purchase and try it out. Griftlands will go to both Epic Games Store and Steam, so check it out on your favorite platform!
