The Summer 2022 update of GTA Online is coming out very soon. This is one of the biggest updates for GTA to date, as it changes a lot of fundamental aspects of the game, such as the payout for various activities.

It will also nerf a number of things, however, with the most notable being the Oppressor MK2 and the Cayo Perico Heist (solo variant). A solo playthrough of The Cayo Perico Heist Finale will trigger a cooldown of 3 in-game days or 2 hours 24 minutes.

In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 5 reasons why the Cayo Perico Heist is nerfed in the summer update.

1. Encourage teamplay

GTA Online has always been about Co-Op play, and Rockstar has been trying to encourage players to do it as often as possible. Lots of activities in GTA:O require other players - in fact, some can't even be held in a private/invited-only session.

Gta Heists Update2
Heists are supposed to be team-based

The Cayo Perico Heist is pretty much designed against this philosophy. To date, it is the only heist in the game that can be completed solo. This means a lot of players are just grinding Cayo Perico endlessly without participating in co-op play, and Rockstar doesn't want that.

2. Too much grinding can lead to burnout

GTA Online has always been about making the most money to purchase all the cars and properties. In order to do that, players need to participate in game activities. There are a lot of modes in the game, but most players just stick with the most efficient activities, such as the Cayo Perico Heist.

Cayo Perico
Cayo Perico is exciting but only in small doses.

Doing the same thing every day gets boring, even if that thing is very exciting from the start. Some players can even mechanically speedrun the heist repeatedly without a single extra action.

This can soon become tedious and feels more like a chore rather than a game, and Rockstar doesn't want players to burn out from GTA Online.

3. The Cayo Perico Heist is too easy

Heists are supposed to be GTA Online's hardest content, where multiple players need to band together to accomplish an epic mission. With the Cayo Perico heist being fully customizable, it is actually too easy compared to the other heist in the game.

A single player can complete the heist fairly easily, which is against the high-risk high rewards that heists are supposed to be.

4. The heist has too big of a payout

The reason that Cayo Perico is so popular is because of the high rewards it gives out. The time/money ratio is pretty much #1, even top businesses cannot compare. Currently, even with the worst primary (Tequila) and secondary item (cash), players still come out with better pay than most other activities in the game.

Main Targets
The payout of the heists is huge.

This particular aspect is hit pretty hard in the update. Now, when a high-value primary target (pink diamond, panther statue and bearer bonds) is stolen successfully, their spawn rate will be lowered for the next 3 real-life days.

The values of secondary targets like gold, art, coke, weed, and cash are raised to compensate, but that is just not enough.

5. Additional focus on secondary targets

The Cayo Perico Heist has primary and secondary targets - the former is in the compound while the latter are scattered all over the island.

Secondary Target
Secondary targets are more valuable now.

Usually, players would just pick up the main target and then make their way out. With the nerf, they have to plan on picking up other things as well, which opens up more interesting gameplay. And with the heist having a cooldown, they need to make the most out of a single run.
