Blazes are probably one of the most beneficial mob to farm in Minecraft. They drop twice as much experience as normal mobs while only having 20 health points, the same as a skeleton or zombie. This makes them ideal for exp farming. Furthermore, they are the only source for blaze rods, which are great fuel sources and one of the required items to get to the end.

In this article, Gurugamer.com is going to showcase how to create a Blaze farm in Minecraft 1.18.

1. Find blaze spawners and spawn-proofing

Firstly, players need to prepare the following items:

  • Glass blocks
  • A few stacks of any solid building block
  • Four buckets of lava
  • Two slabs
  • Hopper
  • Chest
  • Fire Resistance and Invisibility Potions

Locating a blaze spawner - they usually spawn in Nether Fortresses. Afterward, build a 9x9 platform around the spawner and cover it with torches to prevent mobs from spawning. Players can also use an invisibility potion to spawn-proof the spawner without mobs noticing.

Placing torches is the easiest way to prevent mobs from spawning.

To maximize efficiency and output for your blaze rod farm, use a Netherite Sword with Sharpness V, Looting III, and Sweeping Edge III. Lower tier swords still work, of course, but nowhere near as fast.

The best biome to build this farm is the Soul sand valley. Compared to other nether biomes, it has the least number of mob spawns and because of that, fortress mobs spawn at a higher rate.

2. Build the spawning room

After step 1, build a spawning room around the aforementioned platform using glass blocks. Placing blocks around the platform, go at least 3 blocks above the spawner and 4 blocks below. Remember to make the roof of the room using glass, as blazes are attracted toward solid blocks.

Remember to spawn-proof everywhere except for this spawning room.

3. Create a lava floor

Create a lava floor 4 blocks below the spawner by placing one lava bucket in each corner of the floor. Flowing lava can be used to move blazes, as they take no damage from it. Break the center block of the lava platform.

A fire resist potion might be useful in building this room.

4. Make the killing chamber

Afterward, make a 3-block high tube under the lava floor for blazes using any type of block. Place the bottom slab upon a hopper connected to a chest. Players can easily hit the blazes that fall on this slap through the gap. Their loot would automatically be pushed inside the chest. The farm can easily be automated by replacing the slab on the hopper with a Wither rose, on top of soul sand.

After this step, the blaze farm is ready. Just drink the invisibility potion, place a slab above the spawner then remove the spawn-proof platform. Afterward, blazes will start spawning.

This farm also provides a decent amount of exp alongside the drops from blazes.
