The 2019 Village and Pillage update brought bamboo to Minecraft, along with new slabs, stairs, villages, and Pillagers! Found in Jungles alongside vines, trees, and cocoa beans, bamboo is the easiest wood to collect, letting players quickly gather stacks. It's perfect for building scaffolding, which is easy to make and climb to reach high areas in Survival mode. Some players are even getting creative with automatic farms to harvest bamboo even faster!

A Minecraft fan named SpaceshipCapt shared a cool Redstone farm that automatically harvests bamboo! When activated, slime blocks spin rapidly, breaking the bamboo and collecting it in traps. The farm even uses Bonemeal to regrow the bamboo quickly! Lights on the corners show when it's harvesting or waiting.
How this bamboo farm works
To do this job, you need the following items:
- Bamboo
- Slime Blocks
- Redstone
- Barrels or Chests
- Clocks
- Concrete
- Crafters
- Copper Bulbs
- Hoppers
- Observers
- Pistons
- Trapdoors
SpaceshipCapt's farm uses pistons to spin slime blocks that break the bamboo. Special sensors (Observers) tell the pistons when to go! The farm even counts how much bamboo it harvests and can be built in standard Minecraft (without the mods they used).
As Mojang keeps updating Minecraft, this special Bamboo farm could benefit from future block additions. SpaceshipCapt has provided a download link to their world so that fellow players can examine the build closely and discover ways to enhance it further.
