Minecraft offers a variety of decorative blocks, each with unique textures and colors. Calcite is one of these decorative blocks. While it doesn’t have any special crafting uses, its marble-like appearance makes it an excellent choice for flooring and other design projects. In this article, we share how to find calcite in Minecraft.

Locations to find calcite in Minecraft

Amethyst geode

Amethyst Geode Minecraft

Calcite is a naturally occurring block that always appears as one of the layers in Amethyst Geodes found underground in the Overworld. When players dig through the terrain, they have a chance to discover these rare geodes. Amethyst Geodes are small, spherical structures consisting of three distinct layers: an outer shell of Polished Basalt, a middle layer of Calcite, and an inner core filled with Amethyst blocks and budding Amethyst.

Players can find Amethyst Geodes between Y-levels 26 and -46, with no specific level offering a higher likelihood. Interestingly, whenever a new chunk is generated in the Overworld, there is a 4% chance of it containing an Amethyst Geode.

Once players locate a geode, they can easily mine Calcite blocks using any pickaxe.

Stony Peaks

Stony Peaks Minecraft

Stony Peaks is a mountain variant that typically forms near warm regions like savannas and forests. As its name suggests, it is primarily made of regular stone blocks. However, Calcite blocks are also generated in significant quantities on these mountains. Players can easily identify Calcite deposits by spotting white stripes of blocks along the mountainsides.

To collect Calcite, players must use a pickaxe, as it will not drop if mined with bare hands or other tools. Additionally, using a pickaxe with a higher Fortune enchantment increases the chances of obtaining more Calcite from each block.

In conclusion, while Calcite is an excellent decorative block for building structures, it is not the most durable choice. With a blast resistance and hardness of only 0.75, it is weaker than most stone-related blocks and even regular wood planks. As a result, players should take extra precautions to protect any structures made with Calcite.
