In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you can steal a lot of valuable items from NPCs, but you just can't sell them to any normal vendor. If you want to sell stolen stuff, you would have to deal with certain NPCs called fences, who are usually tied to the Thieves Guild.

Join the Thieves Guild

Start by checking out one of those wanted posters plastered all over the Imperial City. Then, track down a beggar and get on their good side by chatting them up or tossing some coins their way. Ask about the Gray Fox, and they’ll spill the beans about the Thieves Guild. Say you’re interested, and they’ll point you to the Garden of Dareloth in the Waterfront District, even marking it on your map.

Locate a Fence

Ongar The World Weary In Bruma Fence

Fences are the only folks who’ll buy your stolen goods. You’ll run into:

Ongar the World-Weary (Bruma)

  • Location: Ongar’s place in Bruma, usually there at night (like 8 PM to 6 AM).
  • Details: Ready to deal after you join the Thieves Guild. He’s got 600 gold to spend.
  • How to Find: His house is in Bruma’s southwest corner, near the Great Hall. Check your local map for “Ongar’s House.”

Dar Jee (Leyawiin)

  • Location: Dar Jee’s house in Leyawiin, or he’s out walking around the city at night.
  • Details: Shows up after you finish the “Independent Thievery” quest and sell 50 gold worth of stolen goods. He’s got 800 gold.
  • How to Find: His place is in the northeast part of Leyawiin, close to the Five Claws Lodge.

Luciana Galena (Bravil)

  • Location: Luciana’s house in Bravil or the Lonely Suitor Lodge at night.
  • Details: Available after you sell 300 gold worth of stolen stuff to fences. She’s got 1000 gold.
  • How to Find: Her house is by the canal in southern Bravil. The Lonely Suitor Lodge is right in the middle of town.

Orrin (Anvil)

  • Location: Anvil Castle, hanging out in the Smithy area (go through the castle courtyard).
  • Details: Unlocks after you sell 600 gold worth of stolen goods. He’s got 1200 gold.
  • How to Find: Head into Anvil Castle’s main gate, hit the courtyard, and look for the Smithy on the right.

Fathis Ules (Imperial City)

  • Location: Fathis’ house in the Elven Gardens District or the Oak and Crosier Inn in Chorrol at night.
  • Details: Ready after you sell 1000 gold worth of stolen goods. He’s got the most cash at 1500 gold.
  • How to Find: His house is in the southwest part of the Elven Gardens District. In Chorrol, check the Oak and Crosier Inn near the town center.
