It is not easy to stay alive in the cruel world of Minecraft and in those unlucky moments, you get the bonus to lose your experience and all the precious items you have. While you can farm back your experience in no time with all the auto farms, your enchanted Netherite armor can be super frustrated.
The good news is that there is a way for you to not lose your items on death in Minecraft. With one simple command, you will be able to keep items when dying in Minecraft, but you will still lose experience.
How to keep items on death in Minecraft
First, you need to make sure that your world has cheat enabled before entering the command.
To do that, go to Game Menu -> Open to LAN -> Allow Cheat On.
After that, open the chat window in the game and then type "/gamerule keepInventory true".
This command will change the rule of the world and allow any player to keep items on death in Minecraft. You need to use this command again whenever you create a new world or server to make it works because Minecraft does not remember the command's use.
And once again, you will still lose your experience even with this command so you still have to be careful about it.
Traveling across a long distance in Minecraft is dangerous if you don't have your items with you, especially in the Nether or The End. Even if your items drop at the same location and you are able to find where you died in Minecraft, there's no guarantee your items remain there when you teleport to your last location before death.
That's why knowing how to keep items when dying is very useful to not lose your precious stuff. Though you still lose experience, it's much better than not being able to keep anything.
