Setting and story

The campaign sits in the New Republic era, after Return of the Jedi, in the lawless Outer Rim. You play Shade, a lone racer chasing revenge and glory. The backdrop is the Galactic League, an unsanctioned circuit founded by Darius Pax. Champion Kestar Bool will do what it takes to keep the title. Mechanic Hibi fits parts between races. The pitch is blunt: no Force, no prophecy, just skill and risk.

How the racing works

Star Wars Galactic Racer Review Header

You pilot four classes of repulsorcraft. Landspeeders are the stable all-rounders. Speeder bikes stop hard and burst forward. Skim speeders, new to Star Wars, bank through corners and knife-edge through gaps. Podracers return as well, with Sebulba and Ben Quadinaros among the familiar names. You slam, shunt, and take down rivals. Planets include Jakku and its Imperial wrecks, jungle and volcano courses on Lantaana, a Tatooine canyon podrace, icy Ando Prime, the Skakoan station Sentinel One, and Derven Acos, a purpose-built arena that mixes conditions from the tour.

Modes

The campaign is a roguelite. Planets come in a set order, but events on each one are randomized. At each branch you pick one of three paths and see the event types ahead. Arcade covers quick races, time trials, and podracers from the start. Scenario mode is shorter, curated runs with preset pilots and craft. PvP multiplayer is included. Fuse has said there is no season pass, and the target is 4K at 60 frames per second.
