Advancements are a way to gradually guide new players into Minecraft and give them challenges to complete, similar to the basic system of achievements in Bedrock Edition. By following and completing them, players would get to know all the systems in the game. However, doing this is not an easy task, as there are a lot of hard advancements in the game that would take a lot of effort to complete.
In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 10 hardest to get advancements in Minecraft 1.19.
Table of Contents
10. Uneasy Alliance
- Rescue a Ghast from the Nether, bring it safely home to the Overworld... and then kill it
This advancement requires players to bring a Ghast through a portal to get to the Overworld. As Ghasts are hostile creatures with ranged attacks, luring them through a portal is not an easy task. To do this, players need to build a portal as close as possible to the Ghast, preferably with the help of invisibility potions. You can also just tank or dodge the fireball of course, as a lone Ghast is not that dangerous.
Afterward, use a fishing rod to pull the Ghast into the portal. Kill it once it gets to the Overworld.
9. Free the End
- Kill the ender dragon
Despite killing the Ender Dragon being the main goal in Minecraft, a lot of players play the game for building and crafting purposes, barely ever reaching the boss monster. First-time players need to complete a long and tedious quest chain, which involves finding a portal to the Nether then locating a stronghold, and entering its End Portal to get to the End.
8. Beaconator
- Bring a beacon to full power
A beacon is a block that projects a light beam skyward and can provide status effects such as Speed, Jump Boost, Haste, Regeneration, Resistance, or Strength to nearby players. It can only be created with a drop from the Wither. Players need to kill the Wither to get the Nether Star, craft it into the beacon, then put it on top of a pyramid made from blocks.
Defeating the Wither can be problematic, especially for new players.
7. Star Trader
- Trade with a Villager at the build height limit
This advancement requires players to stand on any block that is higher than 318 and trade with Villager or Wandering Trader. This means players need to build a tower and a bubble elevator to push the villager to the top, which is super tedious.
6. Two by Two
- Breed all the animals
This advancement requires players to breed a pair of all breedable animals in the game. This process can take a lot of time and effort, as some of these mobs are scattered all over the biomes.
5. A Furious Cocktail
- Have every potion effect applied at the same time
Players will need to have all 13 status effects applied at the same time: Fire Resistance, Invisibility, Jump Boost, Night Vision, Poison Regeneration, Resistance, Slow Falling, Slowness, Speed, Strength, Water Breathing, Weakness.
Overall, this is not a super hard advancement to complete. It is just tedious, as players need to craft all the needed potions that require a lot of ingredients.
4. Great View From Up Here
- Levitate up 50 blocks from the attacks of a Shulker
Shulkers are found in End cities. They look like purple blocks, but when you get close they open up and shoot at you. When you are hit by these projectiles, you float up very slowly for 10 seconds. Overall, you need to get hit by at least 7 or 8 well-spaced projectiles to float up for 50 blocks. It is best to start about halfway up the main tower, as there are more shulkers up there, as opposed to on the ground. Just tank the damage with some potions, then cushion your fall with a bucket of water.
3. Monsters Hunted
- Kill one of every hostile monster
This advancement is considered hard due to the sheer tedious process to complete it. Players need to kill each of these 34 mobs, scattered all over the dimensions:
Blaze, Cave Spider, Creeper, Drowned, Elder Guardian, Ender Dragon, Enderman, Endermite, Evoker, Ghast, Guardian, Hoglin, Husk, Magma Cube, Phantom, Piglin, Piglin Brute, Pillager, Ravager, Shulker, Silverfish, Skeleton, Slime, Spider, Stray, Vex, Vindicator, Witch, Wither, Wither Skeleton, Zoglin, Zombie, Zombie Villager, Zombified Piglin.
2. Adventuring Time
- Discover every biome
This requires players to visit all 52 Overworld biomes in the game, which is undoubtedly amongst the hardest. However, it is possible to find a world seed on the internet in order to complete this quickly.
1. How Did We Get Here?
- Have every effect applied at the same time
This is a secret Minecraft advancement that requires you to have all 27 effects, both positive and negative, applied at the same time. Below is the list of all needed effects:
Absorption, Bad Omen, Blindness, Conduit Power, Dolphin's Grace, Fire Resistance, Glowing, Haste, Hero of the Village, Hunger, Invisibility, Jump Boost, Levitation, Mining Fatigue, Nausea, Night Vision, Poison, Regeneration, Resistance, Slow Falling, Slowness, Speed, Strength, Water Breathing, Weakness, Wither.
Overall, most of the effects can be acquired via Suspicious Stew, potions, or food. Amongst them, only Bad Omen, Darkness, Hero of the Village, Mining Fatigue, Levitation, and Wither are tricky.
To have both Bad Omen and Hero of the Village at the same time, you need to kill a raid captain, trigger and defeat a raid for the Hero effect then kill another one. Before this, transport a Shulker to the overworld using a boat, pen Dolphins for Dolphin's Grace, and plant a Wither Rose/summon a wither. Additionally, players need a sculk shrieker to trigger its Darkness effect as well.
