Minecraft is a huge world and there are a lot of mobs players can find inside it. However, some of them are exceedingly rare - players can explore the world of Minecraft for thousands of hours without seeing them even once.
In this article, Gurugamer.com is going to showcase the top 10 rarest mobs in Minecraft 1.19 update.
1. Skeleton Horse
A skeleton horse in Minecraft is an undead variant of the horse that is made from bones and is one of the fastest methods of travel in the game. However, acquiring them is fairly tricky and is completely luck-based.
They can only spawn from a "skeleton trap horse" that is generated naturally by a thunderstorm or by chance (0.75–1.5% chance on Easy, 1.5–4% on Normal, and 2.25–6.75% on Hard, depending on regional difficulty). After triggering one, 4 skeleton horse riders would appear. The only way for players to get the skeleton horse is to kill the riders without killing their rides.
2. Blue axolotls
The Axolotl is an actual real-life amphibian that lives in caves. They are incredibly rare and are actually critically endangered. The whole species are native to the Valley of Mexico. In Minecraft, Axolotls come in 5 different colors, with the baby axolotl inheriting the color from one of its two parents, at random. Unlike sheep, its color cannot be mixed.
Amongst the variants, the blue axolotl is the rarest. They cannot spawn naturally and can only be obtained via breeding. This is super difficult, as the chance to get a blue axolotl is only 0.083%. You would need a massive Axolotl breeding farm to get this variant.
3. Green Frogs
Groups of two to five frogs can spawn in swamp and mangrove swamp biomes. Frogs can also be spawned by growing from tadpoles. There are three frog variants, determined by the biome in which the tadpole grew up.
Out of the three variants, only the Green one does not spawn naturally on the map. Players need to breed them using tadpoles manually in cold biomes.
4. Screaming Goat
When a goat is spawned naturally or through breeding normal goats, it has a 2% chance of being a screaming goat. They look identical to all other goats, but they make screaming sounds and ram more often.
Players can milk goat with a bucket or bait them into ramming a solid block to get their horns.
5. Brown panda
When two pandas breed, each one passes one of their genes to their children, who then randomly mix both obtained genes as their respective main and hidden genes. Only 1 out of 8 pandas are brown.
With Brown being the rarest, players need to rely on random mutations to get them. Round up as many pandas as possible by luring them with bamboo and mass breeding is the quickest way.
6. Brown Mooshroom
Mooshrooms are mushroom-covered variants of cows exclusive to the rare mushroom fields biome. A red mooshroom transforms into a brown mooshroom (and vice versa) when it is struck by lightning. Brown mooshrooms never spawn naturally.
The rarity of this mob is entirely attributed to the hard to find mushroom field biome. As soon as players locate one, creating a brown mooshroom is not that hard. Just wait for rain and place a lightning rod or use a channeling trident to summon lightning.
7. Charged Creeper
When struck by lightning, a creeper becomes charged, which amplifies its explosion power and enables mob heads to be obtained. A charged creeper explosion has the same explosive power and damage as an end crystal explosion.
Players can manually create them by using tridents with channeling or lightning rods. They rarely spawn naturally due to the randomness of lightning strikes.
8. Spider Jockey
Spider jockeys are the rare appearance of a spider or cave spider being ridden by a skeleton, stray, or wither skeleton.
While there is only 1% chance for this mob to ever spawn, they are pretty dangerous, as both the skeleton and spider can attack at the same time. Additionally, they can also spawn with a single beneficial status effect. This effect can be speed (40%), strength (20%), regeneration (20%) or invisibility (20%), and has essentially infinite duration.
9. Diamond Armor Zombie
With a spawn rate of just 0.04%, the Diamond Armor Zombie is an extremely rare mob in Minecraft. These rare creatures feature the standard zombie setup, but they wear diamond-encrusted armor.
Just like other zombies, these creatures will attack the player and cause a lot of damage.
10. Baby Zombie Jockey
Baby zombies make up 5% of zombie spawns. They behave similarly to regular zombies, with the same HP and damage, but with a much higher speed.
In Java edition, Baby Zombie can only ride chickens, but in Bedrock they can ride nearly everything including another zombie.
