Nihon Falcom and GungHo Online Entertainment have locked in the launch date for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, the full remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. The game will arrive on September 17, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

This marks a simultaneous worldwide release, continuing the approach taken with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which launched in September 2025 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Trails series. In the West, both physical and digital editions will be available for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch. In Japan, physical copies are limited to PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.

Story and Setting

The story picks up directly after the events of the first remake. Estelle Bright, now a senior bracer, sets out across the kingdom of Liberl to find her adoptive brother Joshua and confront the schemes of the secret society Ouroboros. The narrative is known for its strong character development, emotional depth, and intricate world-building that has made the original Trails in the Sky SC a standout entry in the long-running series.

Features and Voice Cast

As a modern remake, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter features updated visuals, reorchestrated music, quality-of-life improvements, and full English and Japanese voice acting. Players can carry over clear data from 1st Chapter for bonus items and special costumes. Additional systems include fishing, cooking, poker, and a new Viewer Mode that lets players pose and photograph characters in various settings.

GungHo has also revealed more of the English voice cast. New additions include Cassandra Lee Morris as Anelace Elfead, Ray Chase as Kevin Graham, Patrick Seitz as Mueller Vander, Gabriella Certo as Julia Schwarz, Stephen Fu as Leonhardt, Liam O’Brien as Georg Weissmann, and Courtney Lin as Renne. Returning cast members from the first remake and other Trails titles continue in their roles.

Pre-Orders and Editions

Pre-orders are already open. In Japan, console pre-orders include a download code for a high-definition remaster of the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, complete with quality-of-life features such as high-speed mode and a text log. Special editions, including the Uroboros Box and Golden Wings Edition, offer extra physical and digital bonuses. Western pre-order details for any equivalent bonuses have not been fully confirmed by GungHo Online Entertainment America.

With the September 17 launch now just weeks away, fans of the Trails series can look forward to returning to Liberl for the next chapter of Estelle’s journey. The game continues Falcom’s effort to bring its foundational stories to a new generation of players with modern production values while preserving the heart of the original experience.
