While there is still no official confirmation about the exact launch date of the Witcher Netflix Series, quite a few details about the show, including further looks of Henry Cavill as Geralt, has been released. Below is a new image of Geralt readying his sword, preparing himself for an immediate confrontation.
The picture above from the Witcher Netflix Series shows Geralt, clads in studded armor completely from neck to toe, swings his sword at an unknown assailant.
Based on the Polish best-selling fantasy series, the Witcher is an epic tale of Geralt’s journey to find family and love in a grimdark world. Henry Cavill plays the role of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster hunter, struggle to make a living in a wicked setting in which people often prove to be just as evil as beasts.
It is probably not a monster he's fighting, as the steel sword is generally used to fight against other humans and not monsters. Only silver could affect monsters.
In the games and the books, Geralt uses the steel sword to face humans and the silver sword against monsters, as silver is the most effective metal to damage them. The whole sword is not actually silver, however, only the edges are. Because of this, it is a rather curious sight to see Geralt using the steel sword in every promo shot so far.
Based on a potential release date for The Witcher Netflix series leaked earlier by a Facebook page, the show will hit Netflix on December 14. The current official release window published by Netflix is still “Q4 2019”, however.
