Big news for Indian esports: the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) just announced that the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2025 champ will head to the PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a huge deal, marking India’s return to global PUBG Mobile competitions after a long break.
A Major Chance for Indian Teams
The BMPS 2025 Grand Finals, happening July 4-6, 2025, in New Delhi, will see 16 top BGMI teams fight for a ₹4 crore ($466K) prize pool and a spot at the PMWC 2025. The winner gets ₹1.25 crore and a ticket to compete in Riyadh from July 25 to August 3, 2025. The PMWC will feature 24 teams battling for $3 million, using the Smash Rule format where a team needs a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD) after hitting a Match Point to win.
A Big Step for Indian Esports
This is a game-changer for Indian esports, which has faced setbacks from past bans on PUBG Mobile. Indian teams like Team Soul have competed globally before, and now the BMPS 2025 winner gets to take on top squads like Alpha7 and Weibo. Mike McCabe from EWCF called India a key market, saying, “Supporting Indian esports is investing in the future of the industry.”
BMPS 2025, which started May 22, 2025, has 96 teams competing, with the top 16—like Gods Reign and Team Forever—facing off in the Grand Finals. Fans can watch the 18-match finals on Krafton India Esports’ YouTube channel from 12 pm IST. The winner will represent India against the world’s best at PMWC 2025.
Boost for Indian Esports
This opportunity could bring more investment and fans to Indian esports. A broadcast deal with an Indian streaming platform will make the PMWC accessible to millions. There’s also buzz about S8UL Esports, the only Indian group in the EWCF Club Partner Program, possibly making waves in Riyadh.
Catch the action on Krafton India Esports’ YouTube channel and cheer for the team that’ll put India back on the global esports map.
