The player base of Garena Free Fire has been spring up in leaps and bounds, and now everybody is looking forward to the arrival of ‘Free Fire Continental Series 2020’ (FFCS). The online tournament comprises of three different competitions based on geographical regions, including Asia, EMEA, and the Americas. Because COVID-19 pandemic has shown no sign of cooling down anytime soon, Garena then has to halt the Free Fire World Series 2020, which was set to take place in Brazil this year, and replace it with the FFCS 2020.
In terms of prize pool, each regional tournament comes with a total of $300,000. Three maps included in Free Fire Continental Series 2020 are Kalahari, Purgatory, and Bermuda. According to Garena, FFCS will be going live on November 21st and the ‘Finals’ stage will soon happen on November 28th and 29th.
Indian players will compete in the Asia Series alongside other fellows from Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam. The EMEA Series welcomes players from the Middle East, Europe, Russia, and North Africa. In the meantime, the Americas Series is designed for players living in Brazil and Latin American countries.
Speaking of the Free Fire World Series, the previous FFWS Finals 2019 witnessed Brazilian team Corinthians claim the championship, and that’s why some famous gaming organizations like Team Liquid decided to step into Free Fire right after.
FFWS 2019 also drew a lot of attention from the gamer community, considering a peak of more than one million audiences. Garena did plan for a much larger FFCS version in 2020, but unfortunately, it turned out to be something impossible due to the ongoing pandemic.
