KRAFTON, the folks behind PUBG and PUBG Mobile, dropped some big esports news on Monday, covering their major gaming titles and the India-specific Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). Here’s the rundown on what’s coming for PUBG UNITED 2025, BGMI International Cup, and more, packed with esports excitement and updates for fans of battle royale gaming.
PUBG UNITED 2025
PUBG Esports shared that it’s merging the competitive scenes of PUBG and PUBG Mobile into one big event called PUBG UNITED 2025. Kicking things off, the first event will happen in Bangkok, Thailand, this November. They’re keeping the details under wraps for now but teased fans with a trailer released on Monday. Stay tuned for more info on this epic esports showdown.
BGMI International Cup 2025
KRAFTON also spilled the beans on the BGMI International Cup 2025, a LAN tournament set for October 31 to November 2. It’ll bring together the top eight BGMI teams from India to face off against the best eight squads from South Korea and Japan. The prize pool is a hefty ₹1 Crore (about $114,000 USD). Indian teams can earn their spot by placing in the top eight at the BGMI Showdown, starting September 18 in Hyderabad. The winner not only gets cash but also a direct invite to the Global Championship, making it a high-stakes battle for BGMI players.
BGMI Campus Tour 2025–2026
On top of that, KRAFTON announced the BGMI Campus Tour 2025–2026, aimed at Tier-2 players and focusing on grassroots competition across Indian cities and colleges. More details are coming later, but last year’s tour included 64 college-based esports tournaments, giving new talent a chance to shine in the BGMI scene.
About KRAFTON and BGMI
For those who don’t know, KRAFTON is a South Korean company behind the wildly popular battle royale games PUBG (for PC), PUBG Mobile (for phones), and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a version of PUBG Mobile made just for India. BGMI came about after PUBG Mobile got banned in India twice over concerns about ties to the Chinese government, which was seen as a security issue due to tensions along the India-China border. Recently, though, India and China have been talking peace, trade, and cooperation. Meanwhile, China’s ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, called out the U.S. on August 22 for slapping 50% tariffs on India over its ties with Russia, saying, “Silence only emboldens the bully.”
