The 2026 League of Legends World Championship Play-In stage peaked at 1.02 million concurrent viewers, the lowest figure for the opening stage since 2019. According to Esports Charts data, this represents a sharp drop from recent years.

The stage generated roughly 14.8 million Hours Watched. That total is double last year’s Play-In figure, but the 2025 edition consisted of only a single series. This year’s expanded field of four teams produced more matches overall. Peak viewership fell 59.2 percent year over year, almost entirely because T1 competed in the 2025 Play-In and drew massive Korean audiences. The 1.02 million peak also sits about 28.75 percent below the 2024 Play-In high of roughly 1.43 million.
The most-watched match was the opening series between Karmine Corp and Cloud9, which reached the 1.02 million peak. Other strong showings included:
- Karmine Corp vs MVK Esports at approximately 879,000 peak viewers
- A second KC vs MVK series near 846,000
- FURIA vs MVK Esports at about 799,000
English-language broadcasts led overall, accounting for more than 36 percent of Hours Watched. French-language peak viewership doubled compared with 2025, driven by Karmine Corp’s participation. French streamer kamet0 ranked among the top individual channels.
Several factors contributed to the lower peak. No Korean or Chinese teams participated in the Play-In. Cloud9’s early elimination reduced North American interest. Broadcast times were also unfavorable for major Asian audiences.
Karmine Corp advanced from the Play-In into the Swiss Stage. The main event continues in Texas before the final in New York. While peak concurrent numbers declined, total watch time rose thanks to the longer schedule and strong regional support for the participating teams.
