Kalahari is the newest map added to Free Fire... and the most unique one, with the environment covered in sands. Because of its unpopularity, players probably haven't explored it thoroughly. In this article, we would list out the top 5 least known facts about the design of this sandy map.

1 - Kalahari is the smallest map in Free Fire

The size of Kalahari's playable area is actually much smaller than Bermuda or Purgatory - it is the smallest map in the game. Combine this with the lower number of cover spots - players would have to move around a lot more carefully on this map, as they are very likely to be spotted.

2 - Kalahari is based on a real-life location

The map is partly inspired by the Kalahari desert in Africa - both locations are almost the same... with a lot of plants growing around despite being a desert. The weird part about Free Fire's Kalahari is that there are a few details that implied the area was formerly underwater in the past - with a skeleton of a gigantic creature, a stranded submarine, and a stranded ship. There is also an oil drill platform as well.

3 - Kalahari has the least named locations

There are only 13 towns / named locations on Kalahari... which is the lowest in the game. However, the map is filled with small buildings and loot caches - you won't have to worry about lack of equipment, even if you dropped on a random location on the map.

4 - Kalahari has the largest amount of high ground

Kalahari has super varied elevations... and with a large number of vantage points, combat would be focused on three dimensions and not just 2. You would have to watch out for enemies both above and below you. The Top of the submarine is the tallest structure on the map.

5 - Kalahari has a decent number of hiding places

Garena has learned a lot from designing the previous two maps when creating Kalahari. There are just too many dead spots that cannot be scouted in the region such as the top of the council hall, top of the refinery, and more.
