During a Free Fire match, you will face other players and lose some of your HP in combat. Players can also take damage from other sources too – such as fall damage or gas. This is when healing comes in – if you are not fast enough, your character would get killed. There are a few more ways to recover HP in Free Fire comparing to other battle royale games – we would list them all out in this article.

1 – Health Bar and Receiving damage

You would die once the HP bar is depleted

Each character in Free Fire has 200 HP by default. When the bar gets depleted by damage in solo mode, you instantly die. In duo or squad, however, the character would be knocked down onto the ground and can be revived. A red bar would appear on the screen and gradually drop to zero after a period of time. If a teammate picks you up during that period, you would be revived with some HP.

Olivia and Kapella's skills can give your teammates more HP after revival, however, people would usually pick Kapella, as her passive actually provide some benefit outside of helping teammates up.

2 – How to gain HP

There are 4 ways to gain HP in Free Fire: Medkits, Mushrooms, character abilities and Treatment Gun. Kapella’s healing passive boost all of them.

Medkits

Medkits are super easy to find on the map

The most common healing item in Free Fire – they are easy to spot with their large size and signature green color. Once a Medkit is found, you can activate it by tapping the icon on the left side of the screen. After 3 seconds, your character would take the consumable and replenish 15 HP every second – for 5 seconds. You can activate a medkit whenever your health is not full.

Mushrooms

Each mushroom consumed would give your character a certain amount of EP or "energy point", which can then be converted into HP. 1 EP would be converted into 1 HP every second. There are 4 types of mushrooms with 4 different colors – they would give the player 50/75/100/200 EP respectively.

The Shiba Inu pet can detect mushroom locations on the map. Maxim can reduce the activate time of mushroom and medkit by 12% at max level – which is like a 0.3 second reduction in the case of the medkit - this is very underpowered overall and not worth using.

Character ability

Olivia, despite being a nurse, is not the best at healing in Free Fire

There are 3 characters with the ability to recover HP in Free Fire: Alok, Jota and A124. Amongst them, Alok is probably the best, as the guy can restore HP for the whole squad, while Jota and A124 can only do it to themselves. Miguel’s skill that grants EP recovery after kill could also be considered a heal. Antonio's ability to gain 35 HP at the beginning of the round can also be counted.

Treatment Gun

The treatment gun is actually the second best pistol, with the 2nd longest range in the class

The treatment gun is a pistol that damage enemies and heal your allies – it is a pretty decent item in squad mode – healers can use it to provide extra heal outside of combat. When fighting, however, it is best that you pull out a real gun and defend your team.
