Genshin Impact Cursed Blade: Stats, Passive, And Ascension Materials

After the Sumeru Teaser on July 9, miHoYo released another announcement focusing on version 2.8. It focuses on the Cursed Blade, the newest weapon introduced in the upcoming 2.8 patch. It is previously leaked as the "Kazuha sword". Overall, it is just fitting that a weapon designed for Kazuha gets released alongside a Kazuha rerun banner.

The Cursed Blade is a 4-star sword that will be given for free as a reward after the player completes a certain questline in the game. While the specifics about the quest have not been announced, it is likely about Kazuha, as the quest will come out after the 2.8 version update.

Cursed Blade stats & passive skill

Below are the main stats and sub-stats for the Cursed Blade, at level 90:

Base ATK: 510
Secondary Stat (ATK%): 41.3

When a Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack hits an opponent, it will whip up a Hewing Gale, dealing AoE DMG equal to 180% of ATK and increasing ATK by 15% for 8s. This effect can be triggered once every 8s. The bonus attack works even if the user is off-field.

Overall, this is similar to the Prototype Archaic, as it can trigger an AoE attack when the user uses Normal and Charged Attacks. However, this passive can also be triggered by Plunging Attacks, which Kazuha performs when using his Elemental Skill.

Since it's a quest reward, it is unlikely that players would be able to refine the Cursed Blade. However, it is yet to be seen in the weapon performs better or worse than the other F2P refinable swords like Amenoma Kageuchi or Iron Sting.

Players can get the Mask of the Wicked Lieutenant from the Court of Flowing Sand in Inazuma on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Gloomy Statuette materials can be obtained after defeating Abyss Herald, Abyss Lector, Black Serpent Knight, and Shadowy Husks.
The last material, Spectral Husk, can be obtained by defeating any elemental Specter.

Who is Cursed Blade good for

Overall, with an ATK% secondary stat, higher than average base damage, and a passive that focuses on Normal attacks, the Cursed blade is suited for characters who normal attacks for their damage rotations. Overall, only Ayato and Ayaka can make some use out of the weapon. However, the sword does not have Elemental mastery 2nd stat, so its usage on Kazuha is limited.
