Yaoyao is a 4-star Dendro Polearm character who brings a unique combination of healing and Dendro application to her teams. She was Xiangling's junior disciple under the same martial arts master but has since become an assistant for Ganyu.
In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the complete Genshin Impact Yaoyao Build Guide, including talents, gears and team comps.
1. Yaoyao Talent Overview & Gameplay
Talents
- Skill: Create a turret that throws white radishes to damage enemies/heal allies (AoE effect). Priority healing if the active character is under 70% HP. Damage and heal scale based on MAX HP, 15s CD.
- Burst: Turn into a special state for 5 seconds, summoning 3 extra turrets that deal more damage and heal more HP. CD 20s, cost 80 energy.
- Passive 1: During her Burst duration, she will throw a while radish at enemies/allies every 0.5 seconds while sprinting, jumping, or running.
- Passive 2: When White Jade Radishes explode, active characters within their AoE will regain HP every 2s based on 20% of Yaoyao’s Max HP. This effect lasts 6s.
Gameplay
Overall, Yaoyao is mainly a healer with the ability to deal damage and heal in multiple instances. She is the long-awaited Dendro healer for Bloom teams - her turret can keep the active character at high HP while applying Dendro damage at the same time. The turret can generate 5 particles over the course of its 10-second duration if Yuegui only targets one enemy.
Her combo is just to use her skill then activate her burst and run around. During the duration, her turret will throw radishes at the target, while she runs around summoning extra turrets while also throwing radishes. As Yaoyao's Burst forces her to stay on-field for up to 5 seconds, which limits its use in most of Yaoyao's teams. Players should use it as an emergency heal boost.
With passive 2, radishes will have an additional 6-seconds healing effect. Stack that on top of the 10s duration of Yaoyao's Skill and players should be able to keep healing constantly as her Skill has a 15s CD.
Talent Priority
Yaoyao is the usual support character whose whole purpose is to fire off Skill and Burst to contribute and then switch to the DPS. Just max her Skill first then her Burst.
2. Yaoyao Best Constellation
With Yaoyao being a 4-star, players should be able to get a few of her constellations and eventually max them out. Only C1 is utility while the rest are damage boost.
- C1: Characters healed by white radishes get an extra 15% Dendro DMG and 15 stamina. This means Yaoyao would be great supporting Dendro DPS like Alhaitham or Nahida, who mainly deal Dendro damage with catalyst and infusion. C1 is overall her best talent - players should try to get it if possible.
- C2: Regenerate energy while in her Burst form if white radishes damage enemies. This ease up the ER requirement in Yaoyao's build, allowing players to get more damage substats on her.
- C4: Gain extra EM after using Skill or Burst. This improves Yaoyao's damage and consistency.
- C6: Each turret will have a chance to throw a big radishes (max 2) that deal more damage and heal more HP.
3. Best Weapon & Artifacts for Yaoyao
Weapons
Players can build Yaoyao's weapon around either healing (MAX HP%) or reaction damage (Elemental Mastery). With her being a support, using an ER weapon like Favonius is also viable.
- Best HP weapon: Staff Of Homa (players will probably never waste this spear on Yaoyao)
- Best EM weapon: Moonpiercer
- Substitute: Black Tassel, Favonius Lance, Kitain Cross Spear, Dragon's Bane
Artifacts
In most cases, Yaoyao will Burst every other rotation (see Burst for more details); her ER requirements are accordingly low. Even in teams with very low particle generation, Yaoyao shouldn’t need more than 150% ER.
Overall, players would want to use the Deepwood Memories set for the Dendro RES shred if they are supporting a Dendro DPS character. The Tenacity of the Millelith set is also a viable choice for the extra HP (if you need more healing). The Maiden Beloved set can also be a substitute if you planning on running Yaoyao as a full healer.
Additionally, the 4p Instructor is great for boosting reaction damage, which most Dendro teams rely on. Healer builds will generally outperform offensive ones because the set is limited by 4-star stats. Note that this set only activates on-field, so players should make sure to proc a reaction before swapping to their next character.
Substat Priority
Energy Recharge > HP% > Elemental Mastery > ATK%
- Sands: HP%/ Elemental Mastery
- Goblet: HP%/ Elemental Mastery
- Circlet: Healing Bonus%/ Elemental Mastery
4. Genshin Impact Yaoyao Team Comps
Nilou Bloom
- Yaoyao + Nilou + Dendro + Hydro
Yaoyao cannot apply enough Dendro by herself to support a healthy amount of Bountiful Cores. However, she opens up the second Hydro slot, which was traditionally reserved for healers.
Dendro | Alhaitham, Dendro Traveler, Collei, Nahida | The Dendro slot can be filled by any character with good Dendro application. Nahida is of course the best, with the ability to function well both on field and off. Alhaitham, however, need more field time. |
Hydro | Ayato, Barbara, Candace, Kokomi, Tartaglia, Xingqiu, Yelan | Xingqiu and Yelan are the best for single target damage while Ayato and Tartaglia are for AoE damage. As Nilou already have good AoE capability, she enjoys support from Xingqiu and Yelan more. Additionally, Xingqiu and Yelan's off-field ability also let Yaoyao drive their Bursts during her own Burst field time.
Yaoyao's heal allow Kokomi to focus on EM, which yield more bountiful core damage. Additionally, the extra heal from Yaoyao keep the team alive when Kokomi's heals are on cooldown. Barbara functions fairly similar to Kokomi but nowhere near as effective, with lower Hydro application rate and range restrictions. Candace serves as an inferior pick to others listed, but she lets Yaoyao to be played on-field, making full use of the Dendro RES from the Adeptal Legacy state. |
Quicken
- Yaoyao + Dendro + Electro + Flex
Because Yaoyao is a healer, she gives Quicken teams a wider selection of support characters and damage dealers. Even when using her as the solo Dendro supporting multiple Electro teammates, Yaoyao provides a rotation-tight Quicken aura. The flex spot is usually filled by another Electro or Dendro character for simultaneous Electro and Dendro Resonances, or by a support character that can buff the existing DPS options.
Dendro | Alhaitham, Dendro Traveler, Collei, Nahida, Tighnari | Usually, players should pair Yaoyao with a strong Dendro DPS who enjoys Yaoyao's battery ability. Alhaitham, Tighnari and Nahida are top picks for a spread-focused comp. However, if players don't have these characters and are running a aggravate comp with strong electro DPS, Collei and Traveler can serve as the secondary Dendro applicator. Yaoyao also has indirect synergy with on-field ranged Dendro characters like Tighnari and Nahida since she provides heals from long-range. Her competitors Kuki and Dori suffer from various range and positioning issues outside of melee. |
|
Electro | Beidou, Cyno, Fischl, Keqing, Lisa, Raiden, Sara, Yae | Any Electro DPS or support with good application and damage can fit into this team. However, certain characters like Beidou, Cyno and Lisa would need another support battery due to their high energy requirement. Players will need at least one DPS character like Raiden, Yae or Keqing if they don't have a Dendro DPS. | |
Flex | Another Electro or Dendro or Kazuha, Sucrose, Venti, Zhongli |
The flex slot can be the second Dendro/ Electro character or an Anemo support. They are capable of Shredding Electro RES and grouping.
Kazuha and Venti are generally recommended for Double Electro teams—Kazuha can buff Electro DMG%, while Venti has an Energy refund Passive. Sucrose is a flexible pick as her EM share can benefit both Electro and Dendro characters. Zhongli has overlapping defensive utility with Yaoyao, but his RES Shred is handy, especially for Double Dendro teams. |
Hyperbloom/Burgeon
- Yaoyao + Hydro + Electro/Pyro + Flex
Yaoyao’s unique position as a Dendro healer frees up other slots. The Hydro unit should have consistent Hydro application to create Dendro Cores and the third slot should be an effective Hyperbloom/Burgeon trigger. The flex slot can be someone who gives buffs or additional Elemental application. For Burgeon teams in particular, the last slot must be a Dendro character. After Burning occurs and consumes Dendro aura, Yaoyao doesn’t apply enough Dendro to produce Cores by herself.
Hydro | Ayato, Barbara, Kokomi, Tartaglia, Xingqiu, Yelan | These options provide stable Hydro application to create Dendro Cores. Many of them also come with high personal damage. |
Electro/Pyro | Dori (C6), Fischl, Kuki, Raiden, Yae, Amber, Thoma, Yanfei | These are the triggers for Hyperbloom or Burgeon.Staple off-field picks include Kuki, Raiden and Thoma. C6 Dori, on-field Yae, Amber and Yanfei usually spend a large chunk of the team’s field time to trigger Dendro Cores and other reactions. If Fischl or off-field Yae is chosen, they’ll need either Sucrose or Heizou in the flex slot. |
Flex | Alhaitham, Dendro Traveler, Collei, Nahida, Sucrose, Kazuha | The flex slot can be the second Dendro character or an Anemo support. In addition to their RES Shred and EM Buffs, Sucrose and Kazuha can Swirl Electro aura to trigger Hyperbloom themselves. The Dendro picks are optional for Hyperbloom to gain Dendro Resonance, but they are required for Burgeon to supplement the team’s Dendro Core production. |
