We reported on the Android launch of Breakout: Dark Prison – The Last Rescue back in October, and now the game has finally made its way over to the iOS platform. If you've missed our previous coverage, this is an ARPG with combat elements somewhat similar to Dark Souls, but its aesthetic is more quirky and makes one think of the likes of Let It Die. Check out its trailer below:

In our original article, we wrote that iOS users could expect to see the game on the 14th of October, but the Android launch experienced several bugs, so it seems the developer has had to push back the date to have more time to deal with those.

In any case, the iOS version of Breakout: Dark Prison is now here, and aside from fixing the bugs, it also brings with it many new features including several PvP modes. Of course, if you’re not a fan of that, there’s also a fair amount of singleplayer content on offer.

The combat has elements somewhat similar to Dark Souls

The main campaign will see you fighting your way through, you guessed it, a dark prison to find your kidnapped child. Needless to say, numerous challenging enemies and bosses stand in your way, and you’ll also be able to find new weapons and items as you go. Moreover, throughout your journey, you'll non-hostile prisoners that you can interact with. Sometimes this can reward you with resources that you can then spend to upgrade your character.

Discover new weapons as you go

Similar to its Android counterpart, this iOS release comes with controller support at launch, a feature we highly recommend you make good use out of. Touchscreen controls can be rather fiddly and unreliable in fast-paced games such as this one.

With this, Breakout: Dark Prison – The Last Rescue is now available for both Android and iOS. It’s a free-to-play game with IAPs.
