Countersnipe is a multiplayer sniping game for mobile that’s just been launched on both Google Play and the App Store. We were big fans of these types of games back in the Flash games era, so adding multiplayer elements to the genre is no doubt an intriguing idea. Check out Countersnipe’s trailer below:

The scale of the game is relatively small in terms of how many players can participate. You'll team up with 3 other players to compete against another team of four. Of course, the ultimate goal is to locate the enemies’ whereabouts and try to line up a shot without compromising your own position.

The game in its current state has 3 maps for you to play in, and combined, they have a total of hundreds of spawn locations. You’ll appear in a random place with every match, so no two matches will be the same and it’ll probably take you a while to get used to all of them. Additionally, the levels are also littered with destroyable objects and other distractions that you can use to confuse your enemies and give yourself an advantage.

And of course, there are dozens of sniper rifles to satisfy the gun enthusiast in you. These are divided into 5 tiers of power and can all be upgraded in multiple ways. Each gun can also be equipped with different attachments, so there are plenty of ways for you to customize the gameplay to suit your style. Similarly, your characters can be upgraded as well.

That said, we are somewhat concerned about all these arrays of upgrades, as they’d make for a perfect environment for pay-to-win to thrive – especially considering that this is a free-to-play game. The developer has said that matchmaking will be determined by character level and gun tier, though, so hopefully, you won’t run into someone who’s paid to obtain much better gear than yours. Only time can tell, of course.

Countersnipe is now available for both Android and iOS. It's a free-to-play game with IAPs.
