Free Fire's special character system is one of the best mechanics in the game. It sets Free Fire apart from other Battle Royales, as no other game in the same genre has a skill system that you can fully customize. Not all characters are created equal, however - by releasing stronger new characters, Garena forces players to spend diamonds to buy them.
This year we have seen our fair share of new characters - in this article, we would list out the top 5 best character in Free Fire 2020. Only characters released this year are counted on this list - DJ Alok is not going to be here.
Table of Contents
5 - Steffie
Released on the February patch, Steffie has become one of the best additions in the Female character roster of Free Fire. Her ability "Graffiti's Blessing" would create a Graffiti that give players slight damage reduction from bullets and cut down 1/4 of explosive damage taken.
Your character would still get the bonuses after moving away from the Graffiti so you don't have to stand still on the top of it. While the 5% bullet damage reduction is not really strong - it is still something... and can make a difference between winning and losing. The explosive damage reduction is pretty situational.
- Level 1: Reduces explosive damage by 15% and bullet damage by 5% for 5 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 2: Reduces explosive damage by 17% and bullet damage by 5% for 5 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 3: Reduces explosive damage by 19% and bullet damage by 5% for 5 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 4: Reduces explosive damage by 21% and bullet damage by 5% for 5 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 5: Summon airdrop playcard
- Level 6: Reduces explosive damage by 23% and bullet damage by 5% for 5 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 7: Steffie's Banner
- Level 8: Reduces explosive damage by 25% and bullet damage by 5% for 5 seconds. CD 45 seconds.

4 - Wolfrahh
Released on June 3rd 2020, Wolfrahh has quickly become one of the more popular characters in the game due to the unique way his ability works. Free Fire's "streamer" character is the first one with a skill that gains a stackable bonus after every kills. This means a character with Wolfrahh's skill would be much more powerful later on in the game after all the bonuses have been maxed.
With Wolfrahh's ability at maximum level and stacks, the damage taken by headshots of your character would be reduced by 25%. When combined with a good helmet, it is impossible to get killed by headshots if you know what you are doing. The bonus limb damage is super good - it can give a whopping 20% extra damage after 4 kills.
- Level 1: With each kill Headshot damage is reduced by 3% to 25%. Damage to enemy limbs increases by 3%, up to 15%
- Level 2: With each kill: Headshot damage is reduced by 3.5%, up to 25%. Damage to enemy limbs increases by 3.5%, up to 15%
- Level 3: With each kill: Headshot damage is reduced by 4% to 25%. Damage to enemy limbs increases by 4% to 15%
- Level 4: With each kill: Headshot damage is reduced by 4.5% to 25%. Damage to enemy bodies increased by 4.5%, up to 15%
- Level 5: Summon Airdrop Playcard
- Level 6: With each kill: Headshot damage is reduced by 4.5% to 30%. Damage to enemy bodies increased by 4.5%, up to 20%
- Level 7: Background Game Streamer
- Level 8: With each kill: Headshot damage is reduced by 5% to 30%. Damage to enemy bodies increases by 5%, up to 20%
3 - Jai
Free Fire's first Indian character is one of the best released this year. Jai's appearance is modeled after famous Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan... and his skill "Furious Reload" fits pretty well with the general theme. He was released on August 29.
Furious Reload is a purely offensive ability - it would let you engage multiple enemies without having to worry about running out of ammo. After making kills with pretty much every weapon (except for Sniper Rifles), approximately half of the magazine would be filled again so that you can continue fighting.
- Level 1: Refill 30% ammo capacity after each kill (limited to AR, Pistol, SMG and SG)
- Level 2: Refill 33% ammo capacity after each kill (limited to AR, Pistol, SMG and SG)
- Level 3: Refill 36% ammo capacity after each kill (limited to AR, Pistol, SMG and SG)
- Level 4: Refill 39% ammo capacity after each kill (limited to AR, Pistol, SMG and SG)
- Level 5: Summon airdrop playcard
- Level 6: Refill 42% ammo capacity after each kill (limited to AR, Pistol, SMG and SG)
- Level 7: Jai's Banner
- Level 8: Refill 45% ammo capacity after each kill (limited to AR, Pistol, SMG and SG)
2 - Luqueta
Another character based on a real-life celebrity - Luqueta was introduced into the game on July 29 this year. Similar to Wolfrahh, Luqueta also has a stackable bonus that level up after kills, but unlike Wolfrahh, Luqueta's Hat Trick is a defensive skill.
After every kill, Luqueta would gain bonus Maximum HP, to a limit of 35. This is actually super powerful, as the game is designed around characters having only 200 HP - headshots would not be able to instantly kill you anymore with this skill's bonus maxed.
- Level 1: Every kill increase the max HP by 8, up to 35
- Level 2: Every kill increase the max HP by 10, up to 35
- Level 3: Every kill increase the max HP by 12, up to 35
- Level 4: Every kill increase the max HP by 14, up to 35
- Level 5: Summon airdrop playcard
- Level 6: Every kill increase the max HP by 16, up to 35
- Level 7: Luqueta's Banner
- Level 8: Every kill increase the max HP by 18, up to 35

1 - K
K, based on the American DJ KSHMR, is the most powerful character released this year. He was introduced into the game very recently - during last month's Booyah Day patch. His ability "Master of All" introduces a new mechanic into Free Fire - the ability to switch between two modes of one skill.
The first mode would convert K's EP into HP super fast - giving and the teammates around him a regen bonus similar to Alok's skill. The second mode would regenerate his EP. Overall, K is a great support character and his skill is very useful for sustaining you against chip damage.
- Max EP increases by 50.
- Jiujitsu Mode: Himself and allies within 6m get a 500% increase in EP conversion rate. This means a 5 hp per second heal.
