Christophe Gans, the director of the first (and arguably the best received) Silent Hill movie has just made an announcement about two new movie projects. The first one would be yet another film based on Konami’s Silent Hill, the second one, however, is a brand new adaptation based on the horror series Fatal Frame.

The story of this cursed location would continue once more

The Fatal Frame adaptation would follow the usual Japanese horror tropes, with the settings of the story being a haunted house in Japan, which is a staple in all five entries of the series. The protagonist from the game would use a device called Camera Obscura to pacify and capture spirits. While this horror series is very highly rated, shoulder to shoulder with legends like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, the sale of individual titles has never been high enough. That’s probably the reason why we haven’t gotten an adaptation until now.

The movie would be filmed in its native Japan

About the upcoming Silent Hill movie, it would be the third film in the franchise. The first two movies were released back in 2006 and 2012 – the former was rated higher but the latter enjoyed financial success. Not much information was revealed, but from what is already available, the events of the movie would take place in a small American town that was overtaken by Puritanism, which would be a continuation of the previous two’s storylines.

The announcement of this movie projects coincided with that recent rumor about Konami working on two new Silent Hill projects secretly. While the officials haven’t outright confirmed or deny the existence of that project, they admitted that feedbacks have been gathered about creating the next title.
