GTA Online is finally getting a new update from Rockstar Games, bringing various new features and tweaks. However, the biggest and most wanted change is actually the nerf to the Oppressor MK2. The vehicle has been the most popular in PVP ever since 2018, with its outstanding performance.

Apparently, Rockstar is going to reduce the effectiveness of the vehicle’s homing missiles and countermeasures. In this article, Gurugamer.com is going to delve deeper to see why the vehicle has been getting so much hate and why it is going to be nerfed.

1. High speed and maneuverability

The Oppressor Mk2 is one of the fastest bikes in GTA 5, with the ability to fly and traverse all terrains. It is easy to control as well: above ground, the vehicle handles like a normal motorbike. The hovering feature allows the Oppressor to ignore all the usual problems a motorbike has like terrains and the inability to go over water.

This ability means MK2 users can attack from any angle.

The Oppressor Mk2's maximum speed is about 130 mph. While the rocket boost has little to no effect while on top speed, players can use it to get to top speed at a much faster time. This allows players to perform hit and run tactics easily without getting caught by enemies. This makes the Mk2 very hard to deal with.

2. Its homing missiles have good tracking

The Oppressor MK2 has four homing missile launchers, which provide heavy firepower against most targets and have good tracking capabilities. It is on par and even superior to most missile launchers in the game. Evading missiles from the Oppressor MK2 is pretty hard.

In the past, this vehicle was bugged and is able to reach a crazy top speed.

While its limited ammo capacity of 20 missiles is supposed to balance the vehicle out, Oppressor MK2 users can just park the bike back in their Terrorbyte to replenish all the rockets. Unless their Terrorbyte is blown up, they can just rejoin the fight immediately with full ammo, as long as it is parked nearby.

3. Powerful machine guns

If rockets are not their thing, players can also equip the Oppressor with machine guns or explosive heavy machine guns. Both of these are deadly against players and vehicles, with the former being more effective against lightly armored targets. Due to the hovering capabilities of the bike, it is easier to aim at most targets while on the ground than the air.

Some people call it the "flying grief machine"

While this might not sound as impressive as the missiles, the Oppressor's mobility make these guns really dangerous.

4. Has countermeasures against missiles

Being a flying vehicle, the Oppressor MK2 can be fitted with countermeasures to improve its defensive capabilities against homing missiles, each one with its own attributes:

Ground vehicles don't have this kind of countermeasures.
  • The Chaff countermeasure disrupts the targeting system from missile launchers, rendering them unable to lock on the vehicle for five seconds. They have a delay of five seconds before being used again and only have 10 uses.
  • The Smoke countermeasure creates a trail of smoke that can disorient the enemy pilot but its effectiveness is very limited, as the trail is large enough for a standard cockpit and the enemy pilot would just need to move away and follow the smoke trail. It has no delay between uses and can be used indefinitely.
  • The Flare countermeasure drops flares behind the vehicle, which can "disorient" the homing missile in order to avoid chasing the vehicle. They have a delay of three seconds before being used again and only have 20 uses.

These countermeasures allow Oppressor MK2 users to go toe to toe against their counters (a.k.a other rocket launchers) fairly easily. Combined with the bike's excellent mobility, they can just run away.

5. Difficult to counter

Having accurate homing missiles, highly agile movements, easy to drive, quite easy to spawn, and its compact size, make Oppressor MK2 a hard target to fight against.  To actually deal with Oppressor Mk2, players will need to get their own Mk2, as there is no other vehicle that's versatile enough to go toe to toe with it. This is a bad thing in the long run, as all players are forced to use the Oppressor MK2 instead of other vehicles.

Other countering methods like explosive sniper rounds, armored vehicles or fighter jets are just not cost-effective or very vulnerable.

Ruiner 2000 is probably the best counter, but the most expensive one. It has one of the best tracking missiles which are unavoidable 95% of the time. You do not want to use regular Ruiner, you want to start CEO work "Fully Loaded". In this mission, you get extremely buffed Ruiner for 20 minutes. It has Insurgent armor, infinite missiles and cannot be locked on at all. Mk2 will never destroy you, and will never avoid any of your missiles unless it has chaff and is performing a hit'n'run tactics.
