Locating and defeating the stronghold is not an easy task, even for a Minecraft veteran. Even if you get lucky and find the stronghold early, navigating its long and complicated labyrinths still takes a lot of time. In this article, we are going to show you how to beat a Stronghold in Minecraft.
How to find a Minecraft Stronghold
An eye of ender is a craftable item used to locate strongholds and activate the end portals within them. You will need at least 15 of them to find and beat a stronghold.
To get the eyes of Ender required, players need to do the following steps:
- Kill Endermen to get at least 15 Ender Pearls
- Get blaze rods and turn them into blaze powder
- Craft 15 or more eyes of ender using pearl and blaze powder
To find a Stronghold in Minecraft, just throw an eye of ender into the air. It will move in the direction of the stronghold. Try to use them sparingly, as you will need at least 8 to complete the end portal. Once the player is above the stronghold, the eyes of the ender will fly into the ground, telling the player to dig down. Just dig that spot to get to the stronghold.

How to defeat a Minecraft Stronghold
Players need to prepare the following inventory before exploring a stronghold:
- Full-stack of food
- At least iron armor or above (if not entering The End)
- If entering The End, players should wear diamond armor with feather falling boots
- Diamond Sword
- Potions or golden apples for regeneration
- A stack or two of torches
- A stack or two of building blocks
- A shield
While you only need to find the End portal to beat a stronghold, it is highly recommended to loot the whole thing. There are a lot of some valuable items scattered around in the stronghold, especially in libraries and storerooms. Equip your shield inside the stronghold, as the dark location is filled with creepers, spiders, and skeletons. In generated chest corridors and storerooms, dispersed chests containing a variety of loot can be found.
Strongholds are lit by enough torches to provide visibility in most areas, though not enough to suppress mob spawns. To activate the End Portal in Minecraft, you need to place an Eye of Ender on each of the 12 frames lining the portal. Most End Portals already have some Eyes of Ender already in place, with a 10% chance of generating with an existing eye.
If you plan on leave and coming back, create a path of blocks or torches that lead to the portal room. That way you would save time on the second trip.
