How to Breed Minecraft Chickens

Breeding chickens in Minecraft is super straightforward and a fun way to grow your feathered crew. First, grab some wheat, beetroot, or pumpkin seeds—any of these will do the trick. Find two chickens (they can be any variant: Warm, Cold, or Temperate), and right-click each one with the seeds in hand.

Chicken Farm
A farm full of chicken after players breed them.

You’ll see hearts pop up, and the chickens will get cozy. Soon after, a baby chick will appear, inheriting the traits of one of its parents at random. Keep feeding them seeds to breed more, but give them a short break between sessions, as chickens need a few minutes to recharge before they can breed again.

Pro tip: set up a fenced area to keep your chickens from wandering off while you build your poultry empire!
